With a run of good weather I finally got on with cleaning up the odd seams which were still apparent after the first coats of primer, then it got given more primer, a few coats of BMW Boston Green and clearcoat:

 

 

Generic automotive primer, with the colour and clear from Halfords aerosols straight out of the can. These photos were after an hour or two, it's now hanging in the boiler cupboard and is drying out to a good smooth finish, looks like only minimal polishing will be required. In sunlight the colour really comes to life. Looks like it was at 1:1 on mid-late '90s models, which suits the era of this Accord nicely and I can visualise there being a similar colour in the range back then.

Should go well with bronze or gold wheel centres, looking smart but subtle, with just the ex-Monogram Citation vents giving any clue about something a little different...

Beautiful paint and finish!

If this would be considered 25% then I would like to enter it as my 2nd build. Maybe I can finish it before the deadline. It’s in final mockup stage before any assembly has been started, no glue anywhere thus far.

Ok guys and gals, this will be my 2nd build for this CBP. Going to try and finish it up by the deadline, if not then I’ll still have the GTX finished. Depending on how this one turns out/gets finished I’ll make my decision on which one gets entered into the race.

I am starting with 2 kits combined to make one. I know there are differences between the two and, it’s not being built as a bone stock fully restored ride, but more of a restomod that can be daily driven or fit right in at a car show. 
 

I’ll be using the body and associated parts from the Shelby GT500 kit and combining them with the chassis, interior, and running gear from the Revell 68 GT kit.

This is the eninge I'm going with in my build, it the mercedes c9 from iceman collections. Simply a great engine kit that can almost just snap to together. I wasn't gonna use this engine but is is based on the mercedes benz M119 5.0l, the parts for a replacement are available through Renntech so someone with enough bucks could build it. Or the same engine minus the turbos  was used in the Clk Lm and one those engines were for sale on race cars direct. It didn't say how much, listed as sold.

I'm calling her done for this year. This is one of the stockest things I've ever built, especially considering the amount of kitbasing it took. This is the Hertz kit with body from the 64 convertible. The only change I made to the driveline was swapping in a T5 five speed for high speed driving. I also added a roll bar and a center console with a short shifter for the five speed. The wheels are from the 69 Talladega kit with Revell tires in the front and AMT tires in the rear. I also widened the rear wheels and added the optional through the valance exhaust. I thing the rear bumper is from the AMT 66 GT kit that just came back out. It worked out well because the bumper drop down pieces are closer together so I could run them with the exhaust.

Absolutely amazing work on this!!! Love the colors and the wheels really make it pop!

Yeah, the gold stripes on the green are so classy looking. The white is kind of jarring. I also went with a slightly darker top color to stay with the understated looks. I can't wait to get it in the sun and let the paint do its thing.

Hello fellow Cannonballers! Just checking in with everyone. I hope everyone is doing well and that your builds are coming along nicely. If you have any updates, we'd love to see them!

We're certainly nearing the end with about one and half months to go! Personally, I've been working on the AMG. The picture shows the just unmasked Recaros (still some detail/touchup work to effect). Also visible are the leftovers from last night's print and the Continental tires in the background.

Finally got to throw some paint on this one. All that’s left is all of the detail work and assembly. I need to find some black GT500 side stripes somewhere but if not then I’ll just say it’s a stripe delete 😂

Quick update, I’ve got most of the interior done, still have to install the navigation system and a few carbon fiber trim pieces, and the shifter/bezel, it engine fits nicely, still have to build the wiring harness and radiator. But it’s coming together well.

Great work guys! I'm just posting an update picture. Just a mockup of the car so far. This is the ride height the build will sit at. Will have finishing work to do to the body. I know that front splitter will need to have a bit removed (Too low). So I'm pushing  to have it do have it done in time, but still in it.
