Based on the also luxury Kapitän/Admiral models from Opel it features more chrome, more leather and more power than its cousins. The power plant was a 327 cui Corvette engine for Opel's (then) mother in the USA. 347 units where built at Karman in Osnabrück/Germany. I started looking at Acadians but the rear lights and haunches weren't quite right, and then got onto a Holden coupe prototype which had a picture of the Diplomat in the article... That is what I was thinking. To me it looked like an Australian version of some American make. But is ended up being an European "relative".
