The late Chris Etzel was considered to be one of the best pattern makers in the business. He did a number of beautiful vintage open wheel race cars in 1/24 scale, specializing in early Indy cars. But he did others, too. These two are my favorites. The midget is a 1955 Kurtis with fuel injection. The model is a curbside with no engine, but lots of other little details. I always thought that the way the injector stacks were mounted needed to be opened up, but that's how the instructions directed. The '53 Ford pickup gives an idea of relative size.

The land speed racer, of course, is the 1928 Stutz Blackhawk, really one of the most beautiful race cars ever built. It, too, is a curbside.

Better late than never... I had the opportunity to meet Chris at an NNL West show when I had several of his Indy cars on display.  He was always excited to see his customers builds. One of my favorites the Miller 91.

Terry, thanks for sharing these lovely race car builds. John, love the Miller, too. All are outstanding and beautifully done. I have been intrigued by the Etzel kits for many year when I used to see them in SAE.
