disconovaman Posted January 4, 2023 Posted January 4, 2023 My local modelers club decided to Swap stalled builds, so I ended up with a fellow club member's 65 Impala. It was about 85% done and not really much of a challenge for me to get finished... I polished the paint added details to the engine and with final assembly it was finished. I had a "Jimmy" figure to paint which was an inside Joke in the club because the club member who owns the Impala is actually named Jimmy ? I normally can't paint figures but he turned out ok, I painted him to look like the real Jimmy...anyway, thanks for looking. 3

rrb124@sbcglobal.net Posted January 9, 2023 Posted January 9, 2023 So much to see! Hey, the 65 full size Chevy is one of my favs. Definitely checking out the sharp 409 emblem on the valve covers. Wow.

Yeah that is a funny story too...The 409 emblems were part of the decal sheet on the Foose kit. I didn't put those on there, Jimmy actually had the engine built, he put those on there unaware of the engine being a 396... my teenage son comes to the clubmeets and he was confused with those decals. I had to explain that those were on the decal sheet because I guess the early model 65's having 409s in them... and the Monogram/Revell Convertable kit had the 409 engine so I think that's why the hard top had those 409 engine decals. He just didn't know the difference between 409 and 396 and I just left them on there. ?
doorsovdoon Posted January 9, 2023 Posted January 9, 2023 Beautiful looking gassers there. Love the pick up with the 56'!
AMT68 Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 That's a sharp looking color on that '65 and I really like the dog dish hubcaps. Those aren't in the Foose kits that I have though. 1

Thanks... ?They are definitely not in the Foose Imp... those are from the Copo Nova and work well with the late 60's bare bones steelies with poverty caps vibe. 1
Slotto Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 That's a cool idea. The Impala looks great. Do you get to keep it or does it go back to the original owner? 1

Tcoat Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 Great job on both but not sure why you modeled my son-in-law. It looks JUST like him!
