Of course, the motor first....

Based off the numerous pictures I found on the interweb of the 1914 Mercedes Benz inline 6 aircraft motor.

And some ad-libbing....LoL

Since almost everyone I've seen has done this car in Kandy Red I decided to do something really Kustom.

Painted the body with Tropical Glitz "Seductive Red" over a secret formula base to give it a "bloodier" look.

My Roosters approved.....?

Aaahhhhh!  ?

I should have known better.....kit is from 1997, I should have printed up my own decals.

Oh well, I don't want to risk damaging my SMS HyperChrome paint, I'll just leave it.

Let it show its age....20230119_112355.thumb.jpg.634a3809a69f7535a2051211a1c0c430.jpg

So I decided to soak the helmet it water and the 26 year old decals came  off easily.

I printed up some new Iron Crosses.

Good thing is, the new decals look a lot better than the old ones did.

Bad thing is, the SMS chrome paint lost a lot of shine due to me handling it so much.

Very nicely done. The engine in the kit, although based on the 1914 MB aircraft engine, is basically a phantom because of the scale of it. 1/24th scale would have that engine towering over the car. But it is a fictitious car living in the mind of Tom Daniel. My take would be to do the real version of the show car, which came after the kit BTW, and put in a Pontiac OHC six in the engine bay. That's a project I have in my mind for the future.
