Slotto Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 First off let me say there is no build thread for this one. I did it on the down low. I got this in a large bundle from my buddy about 8 years ago. Slowly I have been making them my own. This time its the Revell '32 Ford 5 window. This has been an on and off project for quite a while. I knew I wanted to make this one a rat rod but I wasnt sure the looks it should have. I had to hit the bone yard for a lot of the parts I needed because my buddy's choice of parts differs from mine. It wasnt until about a six months ago I decided I wanted to pay homage to my mom. She was born in 1932 so how appropriate to build something with her birth year. My dad passed away in 2008 and ever since I make it a point to visit with her and have dinner once a week. She lives alone and does really well considering her age. We like to play Rummy, Scrabble and Skip-Bo. About the time I decided what I wanted to do with this build, I happened to notice that the 3 of hearts was missing from our deck of cards. So we opened up a new pack and I slipped the old deck into my pocket. Since her favorite color is yellow I had to use it in some way. I used yellow cellophane for the windows and yellow plug wires. I chose a HEMI for the power plant with the tri-carb set up. The distributor, fuel rail and fuel pump are scratch built and the chain to keep the engine mounts from breaking is jewelry parts. The coil is plastic from the parts tree and the radiator hose is headphone cable. I had to fab together the pulley system from plastic tubing and I used electrical tape as the fan belt. I fabbed up the bomber seats from sheet styrene and used the cards I pocketed as the seat cushions and the Queen of Hearts is the mural on the back wall. Thanks for looking 3

espo Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 Great idea for the interior on the Rat Rod. Like that you're getting to spending some quality time with your mother, and I'm sure she enjoys it as well. 1
Joe Nunes Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 Nice family story and cool looking model build that reflects on the past. The interior and yellow detail work are great touches that really bring the model together for the purpose. Well done! ? Joe 1
