ModelcarJR
I haven't built a police car before so I am going to build this one. Black and white exterior and gray interior. I primered today and also got the white on the mid-section of the body. Tomorrow, I'll feather out the edges, tape it off and paint the black. I had some Fabric Gray so I used it on the interior. Painting should be finished tomorrow and then the fun stuff begins. Thanks for looking! 😎
espo
Since you're in Texas you might research the way that Texas painted their cars in that era.
ModelcarJR
Thanks, David! I did do some cursory research and found a 1946 Ford that was all black and a 1949 Ford that was black and white like this one. No 48s. And even if I did, I wouldn't have decals for it and I can't really print them and I don't want to buy them. So this one will be either Chicago or non-descript. I have the paint finished. Two coats of each paint (Dupli-Color Black and White) and two coat of clear. I've also painted all the other parts, so now I can begin rubbing it out getting it foiled and go on from there. I think it will look pretty good once rubbed out and foiled. Thanks for looking! 😎

ModelcarJR
Thanks Carl, Steve and Bob! I appreciate your comments! I got it rubbed out today and the first piece of foil. Still have the hood to rub out and there are a couple of edges to touch-up around the windows but its coming along. Thanks for looking! 😎
ModelcarJR
Finished the foil on the 48 and assembled the engine. I've also been busy painting the AMT Chopped 1925 T kit since it is supposed to rain this week. It has two models in it and they are supposed to be 1/25th scale but either the inflation has shrunk the size of the plastic or Henry Ford started awfully small. Thanks for looking! 😃

ModelcarJR
Thanks, Carl and Wes! I appreciate your comments! Chassis is finished, engine and radiator are in and the wheels are on. I found some extra blackwalls from the 48 Ford Convertible that I previously built so I didn't have to worry about wheels fitting and I can save the wide whites from this kit for a future build. I try to separate tires and wheels by kit and bag them so that I have a clue about what will work on future builds. Thanks for looking! 😎

ModelcarJR
Thanks, Carl! Finished the interior. I did some detail by adding some foil. the instructions called for gold on the dash but I thought that would be a little gaudy so I used an acrylic antique gold that ended up a pale yellow but I kinda like it. So I left it and added it to the knob on the shifter and center of the steering wheel. Also added a turn signal indicator lever. Both the shifter and indicator lever are a little tight on the dash. Might bust some knuckles! Thanks for looking! 😎

ModelcarJR
Thanks, Jeremy and Carl! I appreciate your comments! Its on wheels! I've also finished the front end and have only a few more pieces and decals and this one will be done. I've drilled four holes so far, two in the top for the red lights, one in the right front fender for the siren and one on the left for the mirror. I may drill one more for the spotlight but need to see whether I can drill a hole in the spotlight base to mount it. Thanks for looking! 😎
Dragonhawk1066
Looking mighty fine! Those blackwalls look much better than the whitewalls. I have that kit as well, but I don't know which direction to take it, or what colors if done as a civilian car. One of these days I'll figure it out, lol. Thanks for looking! 😎 This has been a great build to watch, and you are building a very nice-looking Police Car. I think that in following the instructions closely I think that Revell has made a mistake in the instructions having to do with the Dashboard. I noticed that you painted the Dash Yellow and mention that the instructions call for a gold color in that area. Later I got to thinking that there wasn't any gold color on the dash that I recall being a past owner of a couple of 1:1 Fords of this era. I reread the instruction sheet that I saved from my last build of this kit and bigger than life right there Revell is telling you the Dash part that I'll call an insert, is to be gold. The earliest '46 and some '47 model Fords had this area done in a tan/beige colored plastic and as I recall these were the more base models and not the DeLux line. This had to do with material shortages after the War II I believe. This portion of the Dash was a chromed metal part in all of the cars I owned and the ones that a few friends had as well. Please don't think I'm being critical of your build, anything but. You have worked so hard to follow what the manufacturer offered for instructions, and they have misinformed you as to the colors of this part. ModelcarJR
Thanks, All! I appreciate your comments! David, I agree the photos that I looked at were more tan than the color I used. The top of the bottle of Antique Gold actually looks more tan but when it went on over the chrome, it turned out to be more yellow than tan. But as I mentioned, I actually thought it looked OK and gave it a little pop. So I left it. So now its finished! Comments welcome as always! Thanks for looking!
