junkyardjeff Posted January 23, 2023 Posted January 23, 2023 A friend's dad had a 72 Torino work car that had a six,it's been over 30 years since I last seen it so does anyone know if it was the smaller six or the 300. I have a Starsky and Hutch Torino that is not going to be built like the movie car and thinking about a six if they were still available at that time, since I am at work what engine does the kit come with as I never checked.
Rob Hall Posted January 23, 2023 Posted January 23, 2023 That would be the smaller six, the 250. The S&H kit has a V8.
Fat Brian Posted January 23, 2023 Posted January 23, 2023 The engine in that kit was modeled by someone who didn't know there are two different Ford 351s. Most of the engine looks like a Cleveland/Modified but the valve covers are definitely Windsor. When I built mine I put the valve covers from the Revell 69 Boss 302 Mustang on it. 1
junkyardjeff Posted January 23, 2023 Author Posted January 23, 2023 I will have to look at it when I get home from work,I did not pay any attention to the engine when I opened the box. I do remember that 72 was slow.
Dave Van Posted January 23, 2023 Posted January 23, 2023 I had to look it up.......250 in the 72 is correct!!!! Off hand I'd said 240/300 for sure. I can not imagine driving a big Torino around with a 250......my most hated Ford motor made!!!

That's a sweet motor in there....
Rodent Posted January 23, 2023 Posted January 23, 2023 A quick look on the internet indicated that the 250 wasn't available after 1973 in the Torino.
