One of my first cars was a '71 Ventura with a 250 in it.

It sure was easy to change the starter on it. I can still remember standing inside the engine bay and sitting on the fender well to do that! :D

My first vehicle was a 1960 chevy pick up with the 235, so much room for activities under that hood lol

Look at all that room around that engine, brings back many memories of my 56 Chevy and 65 Chevelles.  Looking forward to this build, going to be fun to watch.  I have one or two MOPAR leaning towers of power, this build gives me an idea how to use them.

Wow! So was mine, 1960 Chevy Apache 8 foot bed 327 out of my dad's 67 Camaro. I loved that truck. I took it off the road to turn it into a show truck... meantime I got the 61 which was further along, it had beautiful paint and interior but had the 235 3 speed. I sold that truck to my dad, I dismantled the 60 and later on sold it as a project.(one of my biggest regrets in life).

One day I'll build another one, it's my favorite bodystyle of the Chevy trucks. Recently, I looked at one for sale but I felt the price was a bit too high and he wouldn't budge. It's the blue and white one... the really pretty one ? sorry for getting off track with the thread but here's my dad's Camaro, he still owns it...

My '60 was a short bed step side,  unfortunately i tore it down to rebuild and sold it as well. Later i had a 60 gmc and a 63 custom cab short bed fleet side. Those are good looking rides!

I always liked the slant 6 motors,(almost bought a duster a few years back with one).

Your idea for the 6cyl Camaro is great! Love those in line 6cyl engines.

The few i had were always reliable and fun to work on compared to the new stuff haha

I replaced all the valves in the 235 in this:

nomad3 (2).jpg

With parts from one of these that I scrounged from the repair depot:

Now this is weird. That is a random picture I pulled off the internet but there is a very high probability that the dude standing behind the truck in combats is actually ME!

Got the chassis painted( still need to add the shocks and paint the body plugs black). Couldnt find a definitive answer on what color it supposed to be, so i primed it, dusted some body color on, and painted the fuel tank and front assembly since they would have been added later down the assembly line and not had over spray. I also dusted black in the wheel arches, from what info i could find thats what they did to cover up the overspray that would be visible

I have shown it to three people and all agree it is me. The truck plate is in the right number range for the base I was on, the era is bang on and when I first started driving one of my main tasks was taking Army Cadets to training bases on weekends (the senior guys didn't work weekends) and this came from an Army Cadet "remember that" website. All the evidence says it is me. Funny to find and all because I was looking for a picture of a truck for a model car forum.

One problem with that.

If SS was ordered it automatically meant a 350 or 398, not strait 6 in an SS.

Got the chassis assembled. Made my own exhaust from the only picture i could find. Its made out of solder wire to a junk muffler and tail pipe from an old 72 nova kit

I got the wheels and tires ready to go on. The custom wheels from the '63 nova kit looks super similar to an optional wheel cover that was available for the camaro in "68. The rpo code was n95. The nova also donated the white line tires, which was another factory option

I had a buddy I hung out with he had a 68 wit a 6cyl and the car was an off gold color. Always liked it.

That was one of my original color ideas, but i ended up going white, with a red interior

Started on the interior, which will probably be the easiest part of this build. The 6 cylinder cars could be ordered with the center console and floor shifter, but not the gauge package. So i carefully removed them and built a block off plate. I also removed the head rest from the seats (They were like a $60 option then) and made them low backs. The only added options would be the deluxe interior package, center console with floor shifter, and a radio.

Gonna be a neat build? I did similar with the MPC '69 Charger and stuck a slant six in it from the Lindberg '64 Belvedere.

I bet that engine bay looked even emptier than this one! Chargers are pretty big cars
