NOBLNG Posted April 22, 2023 Author Posted April 22, 2023 (edited) I tried flat clear first, but it had absolutely no sheen, so I shot some Tamiya SG clear over it and it’s more the look I was after. Thanks for looking everyone. Edited April 23, 2023 by NOBLNG Crop pics 5
David G. Posted April 23, 2023 Posted April 23, 2023 An excellent first attempt, I'd say you've nailed it! David G.
NOBLNG Posted April 24, 2023 Author Posted April 24, 2023 I managed to get the glass set and the gasket painted. The tailgate and tail lights are permanently fixed also. 4
NOBLNG Posted April 25, 2023 Author Posted April 25, 2023 (edited) I don’t care for the exhaust that's in this kit. So, I made a couple of mufflers and exhaust tips and attached them to the crossmember with hidden hangers.? Then just a couple of short connector pipes and that’s it.? I also got a start on attaching the chrome. At first I thought they put the wrong hood in the kit, since I could only find pics of Cameos with the two spears. After a bit of searching, it turns out they were a dealer installed option.? I think the “Chevrolet 3124” fender badges it came with belong on a Cameo only? ? Edited April 25, 2023 by NOBLNG 2
Zippi Posted April 25, 2023 Posted April 25, 2023 That Chevy pickup is looking nice. I like the new exhaust setup.
NOBLNG Posted April 26, 2023 Author Posted April 26, 2023 I thinned down the side emblems since they were about 1-1/2” thick in 1:1 scale. I also opened up the grill. The headlights in the kit were a bit small for the bezels so I made a set. Just the side mirrors and license plates left to do.? 4

NOBLNG Posted April 26, 2023 Author Posted April 26, 2023 (edited) The side mirrors sure had big mold lines and ejector pin marks, plus big sink marks on the mirror surfaces. So I cleaned them up and sanded the mirrors flat, installed a short pin to locate them on the doors and painted them with Molotow. I have used the foil from inside a Kit Kat bar wrapper for mirrors before. I didn’t have the exact size punch required, so I used the next smaller size. I painted the plastic surface with XF-85 rubber black and stuck the foil to it….I hope it stays put.? the black around the edge looks like a gasket.?
