Just got back from a short trip and I'm catching up on yours and some of the other builds hat I have been following. You mentioned the possibility of a small top chop for the window fitment. Your last picture doesn't look like you have done that yet. Just another thought on the windows. When I ran into this problem on the one I built I used some L shaped plastic strips to fill the gap and act as window moldings as well.

Thanks David. I am going to use the glass from the ‘55 Cameo kit. It fits much better.

I’ve been fiddling with this off and on lately. I managed to get some interior door handles and window cranks made. Now I am making some tailgate hinges and chains that can be installed after paint. That’s all for now.

The hood wants to slide forward and not sit where it’s supposed to, so I added a magnet in the cowl and a metal tab on the hood.🥴

The tab actually came in handy.🙂 It gave me something to clamp onto so I could paint both sides of the hood at one time.

It sits nicely now!🙂

I changed my mind on the color, since I have another project that I want to use the nail polish on. I printed the speedometer, got rid of the column shifter, finished off the interior and got the body painted.

Thanks David. That is the way the seat is molded, unlike the Cameo kit which has a smooth seat.

So I am going to try my hand at a weathered look for the first time.😬 I found this picture online and it’s the look I am going for.😎

This is my first attempt and I wish I had put a little thicker coat of red oxide on it because I sanded through to the white plastic in a couple small spots.😕 I am not starting over though and I do have an idea how to fix them. I still have the flat or satin clear to apply. Comments or criticisms welcome.

Looks great. Consider sealing with a flat clear instead of gloss, that would be more natural looking.

Nice job I do believe...

I use tamiya weather powder on mine when I do this... put some on the areas you sanded through, then cover the body in flat clear. After it dries I go back to adding power to areas... I'm not an expert by no means, but it works for me

One thing you may want to look at is since you are detailing the underside, there is a big gap between the cab and interior floor once they are assembled to the frame. Many builders have added a simple U-shaped piece of sheet plastic that goes down the sides and around the back of the interior so it fills in the gap. When this kit was brand new I believe Scale Auto even included a template in their article on the kit for the piece I'm talking about.

This really does look like it's coming together. I'm still shaking my head at that windshield fit though. That's just an absurd gap!

This is your first time doing this kind of weathering? Great job! If you sanded through some of the red oxide just decant a little, thin it and brush it on the bare spots, that's what I do. Keep up the great  work!

Thanks David. I went with flat cause I didn’t have enough SG left, but it needs a bit of sheen.

Yeah!🤬 I stole the one from the Cameo kit which fits a bit better.
