Summer can officially start now!  I just got this back from the marina and dumped it in yesterday.  It’s been in the family for a little over 20 years now.

Suh-WEEEET! I was gonna post some pics of the '74 Schwinn Sting-Ray that I'm restoring and riding, but now it would just look like a turd. You win! ;)

No way, let’s see it!  Anything that gets you out in the sun is welcome here.  No contest intended!

Well, just since you asked so nice....B)

Here it is just as I pulled it out of the shed, where it had been sitting, unmodified, unmolested and unrestored since I bought it at a yard sale about 30 years ago:

First order of bidness was to get it operational and ridable, which involved ONLY replacing the front tire tube and covering the gash/divot in the seat with black duck tape. Then and only then, after proving that it would make it around the block, did I bother to wash the 30 years of Barn Find Grime off of it. Detailing of various sorts yet to come, but here's what it looks like right now:

I see yours is from the era after Nader stuck his nose into regulations! (Thumb shifter)

Here's one I've had stashed since the early 70's

Have to pull it out of garage this weekend. I now work six miles from home so I may use it all summer

Great little vehicles.

Friend o' mine just bought a Samurai, clean, unmolested (no huge wheels or jacked up silliness), 45,000 miles, minor ft. end cosmetic damage...$1500.

I hate him.   :D

Man, does that bike bring back memories…..great ones. Funny how you can forget things from childhood, see a pic and it all comes rushing back. Sooo glad you posted this!!

Oh BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH, you win. Is that a Cherry Picker? That's the bike equivalent of a low-milage First Gen Z/28 or maybe a '66-69 Chevelle SS396 or GTO.

Re the thumb shifter: Since my stroke, I'm on blood thinner (Warfarin) and my arms and hands are prone to bruises for no reason at all. This thumb shifter has "bruised" a great big  maroon spot right at the web of my right hand. I oughta post a picture of that. B)

If that were red, and a boy's bike, and a J.C. Higgins instead of a Schwinn, it would look just like MY boyhood bike. Would have been maybe a '64 or '65 model, I dunno. I DO know it's the reason I never had a Sting-Ray or clone, which is why I'm enjoying my '74 genuine Sting-Ray so much NOW! :D

I ride every day, on one bike or the other, usually about 25-27 miles.

I’m kind of a Schwinn nerd. The red one is a King Size American and is quite rare. They’re several inches taller than a normal Schwinn.

and the blue one is a 1951 that I’m piecing together with correct dated parts.

When in town, the ladyfriend & I will do an excursion on the local gambling boat. I'm not much of a gambler, but it's cheap fun to go out for the night and people watch!

It's a 2000 Moomba Boomerang.   18 ft. inboard ski boat.   350 Mercruiser engine which puts out about 325 hp.  My dad bought it when it was about one year old and passed  it to me a few years back.

Skiing is one of my other passions.   Been at it since the early 80's.  My dad actually just retired from water sports about two years ago.   He's in his mid 70's now.   Still in pretty good shape for his age.
