Tom Geiger Posted May 26, 2023 Posted May 26, 2023 Ah Gotcha! Not exactly what you were expecting? I did build a Foose Ford pickup and was so impressed with how well it went together, I envisioned the chassis under other trucks. When I had the need to build something Japanese for the Diversified Scalers Diorama, I thought "why not?" The Foose chassis was a little too long and a little two wide... otherwise perfect! I added the wheel wells from the Dodge D50 pickup kit and they fit pretty well. On this kit, the bed clips into the back of the cab which really helped get it sitting right on the chassis I did shorten the chassis, drive shaft and exhaust a bit to fit. I didn't narrow the chassis or wheels at all. The flares covered them well. I did the shortening right behind the master cylinder, as you can see the two cross bars are pretty close. The toughest part of this build was carving out the interior floor, and creating a new transmission hump. 3
TarheelRick Posted May 27, 2023 Posted May 27, 2023 Definitely a Li'l Hustler in a big sort of way. Very nice build and the rust along the tops of the fender is quite indicative of a 1:1. I owned two of these over the years, a '74 regular cab and a '78 King Cab really loved them. 1
Rattlecan Dan Posted May 27, 2023 Posted May 27, 2023 That's a little different. That would probably Scream! Great diorama setting. Nice work. 1
ncbuckeye67 Posted May 30, 2023 Posted May 30, 2023 Nice way to take a jab at the S10/350 swap guys! Pretty cool. 1

Spottedlaurel Posted June 3, 2023 Posted June 3, 2023 Nice bit of lateral thinking Tom. You got my interest with it being a Datsun, and by coincidence I have a Foose FD100 on its way to me. I was just thinking of using the engine for another project, but the chassis looks rather handy for other projects....
