Perspect Scale Modelworks Posted June 4, 2023 Posted June 4, 2023 (edited) I'm calling this one done for now. It was sprayed with Tamiya white primer then the body was sprayed with Tamiya light blue metallic. The primer on the roof was sanded and sprayed with Tamiya clear. Then it sat for a year or so. When I finally got around to finishing it I was out of TS 13 clear so I used some Krylon Maxx Crystal Clear Acrylic. I let it cure for about a week then wet sanded and buffed. I did see the clear made the blue darker is some spots. About a week later I discovered cracks in the hood. A day later the trunk was cracked and now pretty much all over except the roof.? So I just threw it together and called it done. I'm not sure if this can be fixed but for now I'm going to put it aside and get back to it some other time. spencer1984 Posted June 5, 2023 Posted June 5, 2023 I know it isn't what you wanted , but it still looks good - like a well-kept vintage survivor.

Thanks. That's one way of looking at it. My lessons learned are to stick with the products I know and be patient.
Rattlecan Dan Posted June 6, 2023 Posted June 6, 2023 I think it's a gorgeous build. I sure hope you get around to fixing that finish the way you'll be happy with it. But it's still a fine-looking build to me.
ewetwo Posted June 7, 2023 Posted June 7, 2023 It's got that slightly weathered look which is cool to me.

Yeah I'll get around to it as soon as I finish the WIPs on the bench, and the ones in the stash I want to get to, and the 1 or 2 or 20 that I'll probably come across along the way. 12 hours ago, slusher said: Great looking Cadillac! That's about less than 1 foot in scale. 6 hours ago, bbowser said: Really cool! Where did you get that body? Thanks Bruce. It's a Jo-Han promo I found on ebay. I'm pretty sure it's an Excel because there's no warpage. It had a basic flat chassis that I switched out for a more detailed 1960 chassis. Edited June 8, 2023 by Perspective Customs
Can-Con Posted June 8, 2023 Posted June 8, 2023 That's a cool old Caddy you don't see very often, Jay. You did a nice job on it. Too bad about the paint. Two cars I did last year did the exact same thing. The cracking didn't show up for a few days after I painted them. I don't know what happened. I used the same paints and techniques I've used with fine results many times. I see you used Tamiya paint for the color coats. I used the TS-13 spray for the clearcoat on mine over HOK pearls. seems the Tamiya paint is the common factor but again, I've painted cars in this exact same way before with no problems. 1
