I recently came across your build looking for reference pics of the the real car.....Nice job! ? What struck me about the original car is it's crazy caricature-y look. What a wild car especially for it's day! It's got a great story behind it and I'm thinking my next build will be inspired by the 1:1 High N' Mighty car ?

That's what inspired me as well.  By chance I found an 8x10 photo at a car swap meet about 20 years ago and was taken by the looks of the car.  It's taken that long for it to come to fruition!

Great score on finding that 8x10! I think sometimes ideas need to simmer (and fester!) inside until they're ready ? I've been a hot rod/custom car lover since I was a kid but never knew the High and Mighty car existed until I came across an illustration of it that was done by artist/designer Chris Piscetelli. I just loved how he exaggerated the proportions here and there to make a great caricature. I feel like he captured the spirit of the car really well. I liked it so much I ordered a print of it from him lol And then coming across your scale build really got my cylinders firing! ?image.png.4e307d84c8029e3cf36aeb34da5a8089.png

Thanks everyone, for all the kind comments.  This one really pushed me to improve my skills and remember some that I had forgotten.  On to the next one!

BTW, I'm working on a putting together a "kit" that will include the resin body and 3d printed parts.  It should be available by the Fall.  PM me if interested.

I recently stumbled across this build....fantastic! I only learned about the 1:1 drag car a couple years ago. It inspired me to build my own version of it based on a 49 Ford coupe. I do not have access to a 3D printer so I'll have to scratch build many of the unique parts. I have a plan on how to do most of them with the exception of the air scoop. I think it's too small for me to scratch build it faithfully unfortunately. Do you have any spare prints of it available? I'd be happy to purchase one from you if so!

Yes, I have the print file for the scoop and can make you one. PM me and we'll get it done.

My friend, what a really outstanding build..When I look at it, it takes me back to Lions dragstrip and the days of the Gasser wars all through the Midwest tracks..You really hit it out the park!!!

This build is so great, it is easy to miss  how much work it took to get there.

It would belong in the Chrysler Museum if there was still a Chrysler, if not that, then the NHRA Museum in Pomona, CA.

Super well done, the scratchbuilding is amazing.

Dear Steamboat:

Did you ever assemble the High & Mighty kits? If so, I’d be interested!

I do have a kit of sorts.  It includes the body, hood, resin engine and all of the 3d printed parts I used in the build.  I didn't get the mold quite right, so the body needs some mild sanding and putty on the rockers as you can see in the photo.

You would have to source some carbs, a seat and a '41 Plymouth, as well as making your own glass from clear acetate,  Here's a photo of the parts I can provide.  PM me if you are interested.
