Years ago my brother built this Monte Carlo Super Stocker. It was a pretty rough build that's been sitting in a box for the better part of a decade if not longer. Since I have a few stalled projects I'm hoping to rebuild this thing and gain some momentum to wrap up my other builds. The idea is to clean it up and put it back together without much planning and just have some fun with it. All I plan to do is ditch the Monte Carlo body and replace it with a parts box Pontiac Ventura body. Thank you for looking.

Had to shorten the front of the cage a little bit, still have to clean it up. The kit is missing the rear leaf springs so i'll. have to dig some out of the parts box or make some. Once the rear end is sorted I should know what the stance will be and I can cut the wheel openings accordingly.

Enlarged the wheel openings a bit (still more to do), opened up the grill, headlight and tail light openings. Drilled some holes for the door handles, locks. wipers and badges. Also going to ditch the hatch for a trunk which I'll eventually open. Thanks for the kind words and looking.

Poor grammar.

Going to be a killer short tracker. One suggestion: if you are going to use the 180-degree exhaust, you may want to build an interior heat shield around them, they do emit quite a bit of heat.  Looking forward to updates, I really like this style racer.

Thank you for the kind words. The plan was to use the kits interior exhaust cover but it's nowhere to be found so I'll have to make one from scratch. Any tips as to how to make rivets in scale?

I've never worked with scale rivets. I think you can buy them by the sheet from an aftermarket distributor, although I do not know which one.  Maybe someone else will chime in with an answer.

Got a little more work done and shot it w some primer, starting to come together. Sanded down the hood supports to make it look gutted as well. Still need to figure out what to do for a front bumper and decide on paint colors.

I would think a Nova bumper or maybe a Camaro or Firebird could be modified to serve the purpose.

I’ll have to dig into the stash and see what I have but those seem like solid options.

Inching closer to completion. Made a cover to shield the driver from the exhaust since the original is nowhere to be found. Used some Quinta rivets to add some much needed detail. Then hit the chassis with some paint. Now to start final assembly and weathering.?

Nice project, now I understand why my MPC Nova looks like it does or rather looked like (I have sawn and glued a little..) it is a later generation release of your today unique body. Really fun that you build on this body.

IMG-1565.thumb.jpg.05dd0fac7e117ad05f6e05fb85dc39dd.jpgBeen working on my 1:1 Project so this has taken a bit of a back seat but I was able to get a bit of work done the other night. Have the suspension glued in place. Wish I didn't glue the wheels on since they're not weathered yet. Need to do a bit more body work including cutting a passage for the 180° headers to dump out. I was able to locate some stock bumpers that I'll be attempting to remove the bumper strip and add the holes that would leave on a 1:1 bumper from this era. Thanks for looking.

The chassis is finished with the exception of some final weathering. I plan on remaking the grill inserts when I drill out the bumpers. Once that's sorted I should be ready for paint.
