customline Posted July 11, 2023 Posted July 11, 2023 Awesome job, Katsu! I especially dig the body color brake drums. I hope you don't mind if I "borrow" that idea ?. If you could see the rear wheels, would those drums be the darker shade of blue? 1
Andy Oldenburg Posted July 12, 2023 Posted July 12, 2023 Hey Derek, awesome build, very impressive!?? Love every decision you made for the concept, the details and of course the paint job. A fine model for the front row. 1
Brudda Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 Cool build. This kit is pretty fun. A while back I won the 49 merc at a swap meet. Sat in my closet for a long time. I am into 30’s, 50’s and sixty’s cars. Not interested in 40’s cars. Well this Hobby is pretty cool. I built the 49 merc. I took about a dozen cars to the NNL West. And out of all of my cars , model car magazine wanted to take a pic of the 49 merc. I thought out of all of my cars they pic that one? Well you never know what is a hit. Soo the car gets into the magazine and is a big hit for our IPMS club. I guess I’m a 40’s car guy also. I will build another. They are pretty cool. Yours is a home run. 1
ea0863 Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 Loving your big bad ride! BTW, I found recently that if I have a fan going on low where I'm modeling, the fumes don't seem to cause fogging - even on my clear parts. 1
bobss396 Posted August 3, 2023 Posted August 3, 2023 Definitely a cool kit, glad I salted a few away. I have one I started a few years back. I was at the NNL East when the Revell guys debuted the Merc kit. I told them that they screwed the pooch and should have done a '51 instead, they were far from pleased. It would be cool to see a '51-conversion in resin or 3D print.
