Craig Irwin Posted July 30, 2023 Posted July 30, 2023 Anyone want to school me? Do I need a host service? Phone or camera?

Phone or camera? the site offers free posting for us since the photobucket mess a few years back. if you look in the box below as you are posting you will see a drag files or choose files option. I tend to use the drag and drop method before writing my post then add the pics in using the insert option below the pic (I've circled where it is in red as it disappeared when i tried screenshot it). use the other media option for video.
JollySipper Posted July 30, 2023 Posted July 30, 2023 Pretty much like attaching them to an email..... click 'choose files' ( or you can drag and drop like Les ), pick your picture from your files, then 'insert into post' once it's uploaded. You do have to be careful of where the cursor is in the body of the post, because that's where the pic will go..........
Can-Con Posted July 30, 2023 Posted July 30, 2023 I've never tried posting directly from my computer before. Thanks for explaining it guys. BTW, this is the pic I use for my avatar on the music sites I belong to. I took it a couple years ago and it was not staged. This was taken along a side road to a lake I was working at. The deck caught the corner of my eye as I was driving by. It was about 20 feet from the road. looks like it was there for a while. No, I didn't take it with me, I left the scene undisturbed. Looked too cool to touch. ?
Craig Irwin Posted July 30, 2023 Author Posted July 30, 2023 OK, how do I start "files" to post? I really know nothing.

Just klik on the response box and it pops up in a light blue strip at the bottom of the response box. Just look directly below what your typing and there it is. Just klik on "choose files".
Craig Irwin Posted July 30, 2023 Author Posted July 30, 2023 (edited) I don't have any files. Let's say I take a picture on my model, with a camera or my phone. Now what do I do? Edited July 30, 2023 by Craig Irwin

Then I download the photos to my desktop and drag them to the site the way that has been described above.
JollySipper Posted July 30, 2023 Posted July 30, 2023 I use a camera, it's an older one. I got a memory card reader from WalMart. Once I've taken my pics, I just remove the memory card from the camera, slide it into the reader, and plug it in to the computer. The computer automatically sends the photos into the proper file......

I take a picture with my phone, and it appears in Google Photos within a few minutes. Download it to the PC, and add it to the post.
stavanzer Posted July 1, 2024 Posted July 1, 2024 I'm new at this, but I want to try to learn how to post photos. I have a Samsung phone, that I take Pics with. How do I get the pics in the computer? Email them from the phone to the desktop? Or can I use a USB cable and transfer them from the Phone to to the Desktop? I want to figure this out, I'm tired of not being able to. Thanks, Alan

Click "add files" and pick "my files" or "media picker", then choose the photos you want to post. When it downloads you can insert the photo where you want, where the cursor is, or don't insert them and they will appear at the end of the post. That's how it works on my android anyways. 1 1

Are you able to email from your phone? What works best for me is to take the pictures with my phone, access them in my phone's Gallery and email them to myself at my desktop computer. From my email accout, I download the pictures and them save them to my Pictures File in my desktop computer. To post them on the MCM Forum, I attach them using the "choose files" link at the lower left corner of the MCM Forum post that I am creating. When I left click on the "choose files" button, it opens my Pictures File. I then do a search for each picture I want to post, left click on that picture, which will populate the picture's link to the "file name" box, then left click the "open" button in the lower right corner of the page. This will populate the picture you want to add to your post. As is mentioned in previous posts, be aware of where your cursor is, because that is where your picture will be located in your post. I hope this helps. Edited July 1, 2024 by Tim W. SoCal spelling correction 1
TarheelRick Posted July 1, 2024 Posted July 1, 2024 I connect my phone to the computer with a cable, download the photos, then post them to the forum as Tim explained. 1
Rodent Posted July 1, 2024 Posted July 1, 2024 If your phone is set up to use Google Photos, copies of your photos will be there. No need to transfer from the phone.
bluestringer Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 Several ways to do it. If I take the photos with my phone I just use the same cord I charge the phone with to transfer the photos to my desktop. Most desktops and laptops have a USB port on the front or side. Just plug in your phone there, it will ask you if you want to access files, choose it. Transfer the files from the camera folder onto the computer, it may ask you where you want to put them, I place them on the desktop for easy access when I add them to a post. If I use my digital camera I take the SD card out and put in a USB card reader, (can be purchased for wally world) you can use the same USB port on the front or side of your computer. A box will pop up showing your files, transfer them to the computer. Once you have them on the computer, make your post, click choose files at the bottom. Your file explorer will pop up, choose where you put the files, (mine are on the desktop) choose the files you want to upload and they will be put in the post.
Mike C Posted August 20, 2024 Posted August 20, 2024 I recently discovered you can just copy/paste a photo where the cursor is.
