I miss the guy, he showed me a lot of stuff when I first joined the club around 1998. He wasn't at the NNL East this year.

I just remembered that Tom and I are friends on Facebook. He posted something 12 hours ago, so, he's still on the right side of the sod!?

I don't do FB since about 4 years ago, family stuff I need to avoid. Tom was big on the AOL modeling forums when they were a thing.

As you may already know, the interior tub was cut up and it's only purpose now is to act as a template to locate the handles and arm rests. I whipped up a couple of interior panels from some Plastruct "tread plate" which, inadvertently, has a diamond tuft look on the back side. The look is akin to cheap, peel-and-stick-like upholstery material. I suppose I could add buttons. ?  The armrests are Evergreen strip carved out and laminated then shaped by sanding.

The seats are from the '66 T-Bird kit. I built a simple base from evergreen to get them to a proper height for driving. The sides of the seats look "uncomfortable " so they will be modified  to look more practical and to provide access to the armrests.  Also,, I'm not happy with the roll bars I built so that's a future do-over. ?

Well, they are finished a bit more now but there's still some interior work to be done.

Today was dry and I got a little painting done. The first set is outside in the full sun shortly after painting. A quick mock-up follows with LED work lighting. And guess what I forgot to paint....?  The paint is Testor's Extreme Lacquer straight from the can using a pistol grip attachment which is the only way I can use those spray cans. Too hard to push the valve for some reason. Anyway, despite the breeze, I got lucky ?.  .

I love this green I’m painting my nova green and it’s a similar green but not this green.

Jim, I am just curious. Did you rub out the paint at all? Although the paint looks fabulous, I haven't seen any finish that couldn't be improved by rubbing it out a bit, even if its just polished with some Scratch-X or similar polish. It might be more complicated without a clear but still could be done to the top and wells on top of the front fenders. The fender edges might be a problem but after all that fabrication work, it might be a good idea to add a clear and rub it out. Just a thought.

Thanks for your interest, John but I'm calling it "good enough" and trying to get it off the bench. I have too many going right now and I'm not totally happy with it anyway. It lost its fun and I just want to move on to something I like more. I don't want to loose the weather like I did last year. Got too much paint to do. This one seemed totally dry so I did a little quick polish with the fine scratch remover.. The fender with the orange peel won't survive a micro polish without going through it and I don't want to paint it again like the '62 'Bird and I don't want it back in the box. When I applied foil ( the older thick, sticky "new improved " BMF) I couldn't get the overage off after the cut. The adhesive apparently ate into the paint and while trying to remove the extra foil, subsequently messed up the paint at the bottom of the left side trim. This one just won't be one of my good ones. ?

I hear you, Jim! You could spray a little paint into a lid and touch up the gray with a fine brush. Once the gray is gone, no one will notice because its under the trim.  You could also rub out the top of the fender and if you damage the paint you could use three index cards, one taped inside the hood opening, another at the base of the A pillar and a third  taped to the top edge of the fender. Even if you need to add primer because you are sanding/rubbing out metallic paint, you could do it for just the fender top with this method. You could also add a light coat of clear to the fender, if needed.  I'm glad you had a chance to rub the paint out a bit. I'm sure it looks better than without it. Overall, it looks great! ??

This shows the "infrastructure" that supports the interior panels and, at this point, the windshield has been installed.   I chose yellow for the rest of the glass.

This is where it stands today.  I still have to actually glue it all together but I still have all those annoying little details to clean up but in case that doesn't happen for a while, here's a few quick shots. Thanks for your interest.

I love how this came out! You've really done a great job.  It was definitely worth pushing though the doldrums to get to this point. The rest should be a cakewalk.

Just a few p-i-t-a things. At this point, I've moved beyond, mentally. I don't remember what's glued and what isn't.  It's been a weird couple of weeks, C-19 included.  ?. Now we play catch-up with the Gen 2&3 brats.  Thanks for your interest, I do appreciate it.

Thanks James. A little truth, now....after several attempts to paint the hood with the green paint, I stopped trying because something weird kept happening (probably human error), so I opted for the "new fiberglas hood" scenario. Gotta find some PE hood pins.
