Slotto Posted August 21, 2023 Posted August 21, 2023 I picked this up back in 1996. Not sure why but I traded the truck off and kept the boat. Eager to build, I started off by painting the hull and installing the underside fin and prop. For whatever reason I stopped there and boxed it up. Since then, I have moved and all my model kits went up on a shelf in the garage. Last Friday, I got inspired and pulled the box off the shelf. It was covered in nearly 30 years of dust. Not sure of its condition, I lifted off the lid and there she was in surprisingly pretty decent condition. No instructions. Ugh. I ended up finding a digital set on the web. So I printed them out. As I started back in, I considered red, black and white as the color scheme. I added the stringers to the bottom of the hull not really sure it I was installing them right. The instructions were kinda sketchy, and at least, I hadn't lost any of the parts. I was careful in assembly, looking ahead to anticipate where the next parts were to be installed. After finishing the hull, I started on the engine. The block was already assembled and all I needed to do paint it. Next came the valve covers. I made it a plan to add plug wires. The instructions called for a magneto. I had the part but I dont know anything about them so I added a custom distributor and coil instead. With the engine finished, I added the headers. The provided exhaust tips looked hokey so I added some from the parts bin. Same for the velocity stacks. I painted the nose piece for the boat, the interior walls and the seats. While that cured, I added some heat stains on the headers. Looking back I should have added fuel lines since everything is out in the open. Next came the trailer. I added some "rope" and a hook. Everything pretty much fell into place. I kinda wish I would have kept the truck. No built thread for this one. Thanks for looking! 6
