NOBLNG Posted August 22, 2023 Posted August 22, 2023 (edited) I am starting on the Revell Early Bronco. It doesn’t say exactly what year it is (ford didn’t make many changes anyway) but the instructions show how to modify the air cleaner from ‘71 style to ‘73 style. Anyways…I’m wondering if this thing on the passenger fenderwell is supposed to be an aftermarket ignition module? And does it represent any particular real one? It looks huge!? Thanks, Greg. Vintage AMT Posted August 22, 2023 Posted August 22, 2023 If you look at pictures of Broncos there is either nothing there or a water container....so.. must be something that was on the one Revell used for their measurements.

Thanks.? That’s kinda what I figured. I looked at lots of pics and never saw anything similar. I think I will remove it.
RancheroSteve Posted August 23, 2023 Posted August 23, 2023 It does generally resemble an MSD ignition box, but whatever it is, it isn't a stock Bronco item.
Oldriginal86 Posted August 23, 2023 Posted August 23, 2023 I painted the one I did as an MSD module. Don’t think a factory stock small block Ford would need it though. Autolite decal makes it official.
Mike C. Posted August 23, 2023 Posted August 23, 2023 Just ordered one of these Sandman kits today, Mike. Fireball looks to hav a lot of aftermarket goodies for this one.?

NOBLNG Posted August 24, 2023 Author Posted August 24, 2023 Not sure? I haven’t dealt with them in a while.
NOBLNG Posted August 25, 2023 Author Posted August 25, 2023 (edited) I’ve already hacked it off, and it was a little oversized anyways. But for future reference, I believe it was supposed to be a Ford Duraspark ignition module (or maybe an aftermarket replacement unit). They started using them in 1973 apparently. NOBLNG Posted September 9, 2023 Author Posted September 9, 2023 (edited) The fender looked a literal bare and rough after I hacked off the module…so I fabbed up an overflow tank from Evergreen. Edited September 9, 2023 by NOBLNG 1
tbill Posted September 10, 2023 Posted September 10, 2023 Great work, love the detail you’ve added to that engine compartment
TINCANBANDIT Posted October 13, 2023 Posted October 13, 2023 looks good, for anyone building these early Bronco models and has a question....I am a bit of an expert. I have been involved in early Broncos since my birth (I was brought home from the hospital in a '67 Bronco). When I was 16 my Father & I built my Bronco from the frame up, I still have it. I also run a Bronco blog: Classic Broncos I have 5 of these kits and have been collecting parts to build a few One will be a tribute to my Father's '67 One will be a tribute to my Bronco (also a '67) One will be a 1st year Roadster (1966) with a 6 cylinder engine and 1/2 doors One will be a stock 1971-75 Bronco Sport One will be a Baja Bronco with every option available in 1973 I am contemplating a 6th and 7th one now..... 1
