atomicholiday Posted September 11, 2023 Posted September 11, 2023 (edited) This is one of my upcoming projects I hope to get painted before the snow flies. I have some ideas, but not sure if decals exist. Actually I have two ideas for this build and right now I’m undecided. 1. What I really want to do is shoot the van black and get some flame decals that cover most of the sides. something like this: I’ve looked for decals, but everything is smaller, set up for the sides of cars. 2. Another option that could be cool would be find decals of a mural for the sides. Something very 70’s. Like it came straight out of the movie Heavy Metal (just an example). Do decals for either of those ideas even exist?? Let’s kick some ideas around for this van. Edited September 11, 2023 by atomicholiday
paul alflen Posted September 11, 2023 Posted September 11, 2023 look for the paint topic from Cab driver, he paints the flame colors underneath first, then masks the flames. Then the black(Topcoat) and then then he peels the mask off != instant flames. Pm him
Fat Brian Posted September 11, 2023 Posted September 11, 2023 One of the more recent issues of the Revell W900 semi kit, the flat top not the Aerodyne, has some very Heavy Metal style murals in it. 1
Casey Posted September 11, 2023 Posted September 11, 2023 The 2011 issue of the Revell '48 Ford Coupe has the closest thing to those flames IMHO, but they are not as expansive as what the Hot Wheels Mopar van features.
espo Posted September 11, 2023 Posted September 11, 2023 Start looking for Flame Masks. There are many out there and don't rule out multi layering the masks since you are planning to be covering the sides of the body. 1
Daddyfink Posted September 11, 2023 Posted September 11, 2023 Slixx has a decent selection of Flame style decals https://ecsvr.com/slx/shopdisplayproducts.asp?page=2 1
JollySipper Posted September 11, 2023 Posted September 11, 2023 The Revell '64 Impala 'lowrider' has a pretty cool decal sheet! There's a large mural-sized decal of the Grim Master himself, with two sheets you'd have the mural for both sides........ It's a pretty easy kit to find, or you could trade for the decals......
tbill Posted September 12, 2023 Posted September 12, 2023 Not exactly what you’re looking for, but these decals came from the revell 67 chevelle pro street kit 1
OldNYJim Posted September 12, 2023 Posted September 12, 2023 Why not mask the van and lay down your own flames? Hand draw them on the tape, slice them out with a sharp scalpel blade and you’ve got the perfect flamejob for the body you're working on 1

Mr mopar Posted September 12, 2023 Posted September 12, 2023 these would be cool to use Flame Mask for AMT Chevy Van – Lazy Modeller 1
