Steamboat Posted December 24, 2024 Author Posted December 24, 2024 Interior door trim that no one will ever see has been filled with sprue glue... 1
Steamboat Posted December 27, 2024 Author Posted December 27, 2024 The front bench seat is a home made resin copy of the rear seat. I added a piece of styrene for the seat back and some styrene supports underneath. 3
Steamboat Posted January 13 Author Posted January 13 The body is now cleared and polished. I went with Boyd's (Testors) enamel clear, airbrushed, then put in the dehydrator for 4 hours. After that it was polished and put back in the dehydrator for another 4 hours. Polishing while the coating was still soft was really easy. It only took polishing compound, no wet sanding needed at all. Model shown here mocked up with my own 3d printed tires and deluxe hub caps. 4
Kenmojr Posted January 17 Posted January 17 Looking forward to more progress on your project... Keep it up...
Steamboat Posted January 22 Author Posted January 22 Here's the interior nearing completion. After reworking the roof, the rear package shelf was too short. I suppose that in the 1:1 car, the rear seat may have been further rearward, but in this case, it was easier just to make a filler piece from sheet styrene. The door trim has been rescribed for the 4 door version. Not sure if the color scheme is 100% correct, but it works! Removed the Millennial anti-theft Device and scratched an automatic transmission brake pedal! 2
Steamboat Posted January 23 Author Posted January 23 I scraped and carved away the SS emblem from the grille and replaced it with a 3d printed Chevelle badge. 2
Steamboat Posted January 25 Author Posted January 25 The Texas 3d Customs 250 straight 6 is a masterpiece. Their products are super detailed and fit together well. Check out the size of the belt! Here I have weathered the engine with black, gray and rust washes. Nearing final assembly! 4
Steamboat Posted January 29 Author Posted January 29 Completed engine bay. I used a gray wash on everything. PE battery terminals, the rest of the details are scratch built. 8

I think the difference in rake is due to the pillared cars having a completely different roof with a steeper taller windshield. I think you are right! Photos of the hardtop coupe that I see online have a more raked A pillar. If I knew then what I know now I could have used the whole roof from the '65! 1
Steve H Posted January 31 Posted January 31 Coming along nicely Bill. The engine weathering looks great, well done.
Andrew McD Posted January 31 Posted January 31 Beautifully crafted and the engine compartment is a marvel!
Steamboat Posted February 3 Author Posted February 3 Completed chassis. Again I used the gray wash pretty much everywhere. The left side exhaust pipe from the v8 fit the 6 cylinder with just a small piece added to connect to the manifold. I painted the exhaust with Testors rust, then dry brushed it with a little silver to bring back the metallic look. 4
Steamboat Posted February 4 Author Posted February 4 Finished! Almost.. The hood will be glued in the open position. I'll post some more pictures in the Under Glass section when I can get some outdoor photos. Thanks everyone for following and for your help and photos! 9
slusher Posted February 6 Posted February 6 Great work Bill, I like you made a 4 door an added a 6cyl….
