Still much, very much >! to do on my other 2 current Projects,

waiting on 3printed  Tires, waiting for the ordered Putty and so on , i started another  longterm Project. This popped sometimes ago up, as i see the absolutley stunning Diorama "Windys Books Cafe" from Mister Yasu Okugawa  aka Doozy. Here is a Example of this beautiful Artwork.

Yes Modelling is possible without Guns ....lol  &

I want to make a Diorama around Summer, Girls and Fun, the Dream of a Single old man  :winky:
Based on the Revell VW Samba Minivan, modified to something like a Food or Coffeetruck. Girls with Vespas , Beachbuggies,  Surfers and so on. All Hollywoodlike, no Rivetcounting  ?
First i build the Cabintes and Workplace in the Bus with leftover Wood from my Old West Builds http://bennosfiguresforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=79&t=20548&p=226724#p226724

Intrigued by the nice scratch built wooden units to fit out the interior.

A bit puzzled about one of the units as it appears to block the main side access to the vehicle as you have fitted shelving to the side door interiors? I guess that maybe it is in a mock up stage whilst deciding what units to fit and where?

That Windy Books Cafe VW you referred to as an inspiration is a superb model. The full build is explained in one of the AK Extreme Weathering books and takes you through every step of the buiild.

Well at first the mentioned Book is since it was first published, about 2  or Years ago ? in my Bookshelf. And it is one of the Main Reasons tothis Diorama. And a Friend give the Revellkit to me as a Gift....so the Desaster began.....?

The Blocked Accsess is a direct copy from Doozy s One, if you look close to his Version, then you can see some Doorhinges on the Plates. He make this also in his "Clutch Magazine" Diorama. That i made also, some Restaurants here in Vienna have such "Doorways"

Clutch-Magazine-1.jpg

sty1605200001-p43.jpg

that is how it should work in real

20231211-085813.jpg

Funny fact Nobody realize that on Dozzys Work, also that the Back Doors cannot be close because the Shelfs on the Doors collide with the Shelf inside ?

But as i write in my Opening Posting, that is a Funproject without Rivet Counting, no monthlong Research and so on. Use your fantasy , as a Example the Shelfs could be removable, in a

guest garden of a Cafe, someone must put away the Munucards, Tables and so on.

Regards from old Vienna ?

Thanks for coming  back on this subject Harald.  I have the AK book with Doozy's VW Cafe in it and will have to take another look at it. You are right that projects like this one should be more about having fun and having a go at something different without the rivet counting! Looking forward to seeing more of your build as it progresses.

I have the Revell T3 Westfalia  camper van and am looking to do something similar with that one to the Doozy diorama. It already has kitchen units in the kit so that side of things will be made easier. The T3 does not quite have the character of the original VW Minibus but has similar diorama potential.

I have the T1 Westphalia Camper, only for the Windows , the Interior is worthless. Rude and no good details. As example the Sink is very shallow, so  Iam waiting for a real Metalsink from Etsy. This will be a bit to big, hope i can modifiy it for my needs.

Made a little Progress, a small Board to serve the Coffee, and a drawer for Spoons or something.

Now i tried to build a Espresso machine from Scratch. there are several 3D Files, but i havent a Printer and all of them are not what i want. So i will glue some Plasticart togehther, eventually a LED for Lighting. Thats how it looks so far.

The wood grain on the T3 kitchen units is a bit over done and the detailing could be better Harald.       I see that you are getting a replacement sink from Etsy.

Some doll house suppliers do things in 1/24th scale. Another source of scale furniture and fittings are suppliers to the architectural model market if you are looking for other things to use on the diorama.

Etsy had deliverd the Sink, its real and heavy Metal, but a bit to long. Must modify it,no big Challenge.

Harald.  Yes, I had a look more closely and could see where the hinges are to allow a front panel and a worktop to swing out of the way for access to the vehicle from the side.

The sink and scooter girl look good to compliment what you are doing to the VW.

Hello, news from Bugs Beach ! Since i have finished my AVUS Project, i need something to relax. So i paint and Weathered the BullyChassis and Interior. The Chassis became a Glossy Black Primer from Green Stuff World, Oversprayed roughly with Createx "Iron Oxide Transparent", then different AK Washings and some cheap pastel Chalks.

BULLY-03.jpg

BULLY-04.jpg

The Floor , real Wood, is colorod like my Old West Houses, with Oil Pencils and AK Dark Wash. Seats Painted with Vallejo and very thinned Oil Wash.

BULLY-05-2.jpg

BULLY-07-2.jpg

BULLY-10-1.jpg

BULLY-10-2.jpg

The Cabinets becom a thinned Layer of Yellow Ocre and Umbra Oil, then a more transparent painting with verythinned Grey Acryl. Overnight i leave it to dry, then i sand and scrab this down to the bare Wood and give it a wash with Oil. This achieve the sometimes modern vitage & Shabby Look The Countetops painted with Oilcolors Dark Brown and umbra. Then get a2 layers of Semigloss Vallejo Clear.

i added fake Doorhinges on the Countetop. made with small Brasstube and Pins.

I added the rails for the sliding roof to the roof. Revell simply created an opening there.

The dashboard, literally a board, has already been painted. I'm using Vallejo Model, Model Air, and Greenstuff World Chrome.

And I experimented a bit with paint to imitate faded paint. It looks pretty good in my opinion, but it's not quite the final result

As the engravings on the mouldings are very ‘’flat‘’, making direct cutting almost impossible, I glued individual strips. I used self-adhesive aluminium tape from the plumbing supplies. The advantage of this is that you can easily imitate creased or dented areas. And no, they can't rust, they are also made of aluminium on the original.

Ah, I remember this one!

It's nice seeing it back in play again. Nice progress on this, I like the faded aspect you're giving it.
