After a lot of trial-and-error, I've finally completed the RECARO LS seat. This was my first attempt at modeling a seat, so it's not perfect, but it should get the job done. I'll probably "tweak" it more as the build continues.RECAROLXSeatv103.jpg.2cd7acc8dc789f63ab42fdb7abd43596.jpg

I don’t have any pictures yet but I finally got the old Camaro apart without breaking anything. The body is back to bare plastic and this time around I got rid of all the mold lines. I’m going to re-use the front suspension but the rear has to be all new. Converting a Z28 to an RS/SS means instead of a single leaf spring, I’m making the correct multi leaf setup out of evergreen strips. This also gives me the clearance I needed for the new rear tires. I know I’m making a lot of work for myself that could be avoided by buying a 67 Nickey Chevrolet Camaro kit but I’m enjoying the new skills I’m learning with scratch building. So aside from the group build experience I’m taking on a whole new skill set that I may not have had the opportunity to do otherwise.

Could be.  I don't know what the science is behind the effect,  but if it didn't work the way it does,  I'd probably have to quit the hobby.

My boss gave me a pair of readers years ago and now I cant build without them.

I think I know what direction I'm gonna go with my Opel kit now. That's a sharp little ride!

Hello all! I'm just checking in to see how everyone's builds are going. If you have any updates, by all means post them as I'm sure we'd all like to see them!

I'll be posting some updates soon of the actual model as well. For now, though, I'm posting an in-progress model of a Bridgestone RAP rim in 15x7.5. The 1:1 wheel is aluminum, but made to look like a steel wheel.

Jade some progress.. body is in primer as are many parts, the body need some more sanding before final color. Seats are getting prepped and have gotten mounting rails. ? engine is also coming together and next is wiring. I hit a round bump though, I am missing one of the black (still wite) rubber dampers or what they are called. So what to do?

That is indeed a prickly predicament. An option could be to scratch build another. Or, you could check online if anyone is selling a parts tree with that specific part.

The build is looking good, particularly the engine.

I went ahead and made a cad model of the part I had and we will se how it end up when printed :)

As the RX3 is a curbside kit, I decided to de-curbside it. Therefore, I've had to remove the molded-in chassis detail (exhaust, driveshaft, and engine/transmission bottoms) and build up the under-hood and chassis detail. There's still much detail to go, but it's underway.

Additionally, I challenging myself to fully model and print the rotary engine. The picture below shows the rotor housing (silver) and side housing (still in progress).13bRotaryEnginev39.jpg.d775cf44d85efd14160b5491c8ff6cdd.jpg

The engine will be printed in parts (rotor housing, side housings, etc.). The small rotor in the middle will connect the with side housings.
