randyc Posted January 4, 2024 Posted January 4, 2024 Got this one for Christmas. Needed a Toyota so I have all makes. I don't see a lot of these SJR new cars, especially in the oob decals. I love decals, so this one was a fun challenge to wrap the car first in the green lightning. 10
bbowser Posted January 4, 2024 Posted January 4, 2024 Awesome job! I too like to do decals but a complete wrap looks pretty intimidating. Which solvent(s) do you prefer and do you also use a hair dryer? 1
randyc Posted January 4, 2024 Author Posted January 4, 2024 On these, I have not painted one yet. I have found that a coat of Pledge Floor Gloss or whatever it's called ( used to be Future) gives a slicker surface for the decals. But the PFG will get sticky if it gets too wet. I use Micro Sol (? The red bottle). I have used a hair dryer in the past as well as hot water on a rag pressed onto the decals. On this one, I didn't have to use any heat. Just micro Sol several times and press the decals down a few times till they stay down. I use the micro Sol because I have it on hand and it's always worked if a solvent is going to. And my bottle is pretty old. 1
MarkJ Posted January 5, 2024 Posted January 5, 2024 Wow, Randy. I don't know how I missed this. Awesome job on the wrap and the build. I can see why you like doing decals. You have a special talent for doing it. Again, Amazing build. 1
