junkyardjeff Posted January 7, 2024 Posted January 7, 2024 I have a old Revell 56 I started on last night but after looking at the trim that goes down the side I doubt I can get them off the trees without destroying them so did GM ever make one with no side trim.
espo Posted January 7, 2024 Posted January 7, 2024 Not 100 % sure about 1956, but Chevrolet did offer some in 1955 that usually were used by the phone company and others. A friend of mine bought a used on in the mid '60's off a used car lot that would buy them up, paint them in some nice metallic colors and sold them to the public. As for removing the trim from the spruce a good pair of spruce cutters should work.
blizzy63 Posted January 7, 2024 Posted January 7, 2024 For 1956, the least trimmed model was the One-Fifty. Chevrolet offered no car that year without some side trim. If you see a '56 without side trim, it's custom or a race car. Of the '55-56-57 Chevy models, only the 1955 One-Fifty sedans and wagon had no side trim.
blizzy63 Posted January 7, 2024 Posted January 7, 2024 P.S.: I built this very kit this past year from a used kit from eBay. Built it as a 1960s local track car.
BlackSheep214 Posted January 7, 2024 Posted January 7, 2024 Oh man...I remember doing that kit in my youth years. I remember those doors/hood/trunk were a pain to do as a kid. LOL!
junkyardjeff Posted January 7, 2024 Author Posted January 7, 2024 I was told they were a pain to build so I am going to get the later version and build it,the guy at the hobby shop said he never seen anyone build that version.
ChrisBcritter Posted January 8, 2024 Posted January 8, 2024 A photoetch saw and some patience will get that trim off the sprue. I've got one of the old kits I'm working up the nerve to build...
Richard Bartrop Posted January 8, 2024 Posted January 8, 2024 A razor saw is good for removing delicate parts.
