Tommy124 Posted January 15, 2024 Posted January 15, 2024 (edited) Hi there, In the 80s and 90s, Koenig-Specials located in Munich, Germany, specialized in the optically and technically extreme tuning of luxury car brands such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, BMW, Porsche, Jaguar and Mercedes. In keeping with the spirit of the times, there were big wide body kits and heavy turbo conversions. The Porsche 930 (= 911 turbo) shown here is no exception. The conversion, also known under the nickname "Road Runner", achieved over 500 hp (more precise information is difficult to obtain). This meant that it was by no means the most powerful car in the Koenig range, but it was still a significant increase over the 300 series horsepower. And still stronger than the Porsche benchmark at the time, the 959. In the late 80s, Fujimi took on various Koenig cars from Porsche, Lamborghini, Ferrari and Mercedes. Some of these have been reissued again in between, but usually (as with this car) you have to fall back on what was still available from back then. With the result that, for example, the decals are brittle and/or very yellowed. So it means making the best of it. For the color I chose TS-53 from Tamiya, over which I used the usual 1K clear coat from the DIY store. And a few snapshots along with its 1000hp Ferrari brother (Koenig Competion): Edited January 15, 2024 by Tommy124 9
Mittagskind Posted January 15, 2024 Posted January 15, 2024 Wow, great couple. That blue is outstanding.
oldcarfan Posted January 15, 2024 Posted January 15, 2024 LOve these cars and the way you built them. Maybe Fujimi will rerelease them some day!
karbuildr Posted January 15, 2024 Posted January 15, 2024 Nice duo. That blue on the Porsche is exceptional. Very well done build.
athlon Posted January 15, 2024 Posted January 15, 2024 Great build! The Testarossa in your pic has always been one of my all time favorite cars
1hobby1 Posted January 16, 2024 Posted January 16, 2024 Great builds and something to be very proud of. A perfect pair together to top it off!
Russell C Posted January 16, 2024 Posted January 16, 2024 Nice! (bought that kit for the wheels alone that are on my avatar 911 wagon)
70 Sting Posted January 16, 2024 Posted January 16, 2024 That’s pretty sweet. Never seen that car before.
Chuckyg1 Posted January 16, 2024 Posted January 16, 2024 Wow, that's real slick. Nice shade of blue. The finish is awesome.
spencer1984 Posted January 16, 2024 Posted January 16, 2024 Beautiful piece! Even knowing about the Koenig cars, I hadn't seen this one before.
ybsluos Posted January 16, 2024 Posted January 16, 2024 Amazing work as always Thomas! Love the Koenigs. Actually got passed on the Autobahn outside Munich back in Summer 1986 by a Koenig S4 928 doing about 150 mph! He just drove with his left turn signal directional on constantly, which is a sign when you see that coming up behind you to move out of the way because a fast traveling motorist is coming . What a sight and sound. Your builds are going to make me drag out one of my Koenig kits.
Tommy124 Posted January 17, 2024 Author Posted January 17, 2024 Many thanks again for your compliments! 9 hours ago, ybsluos said: Amazing work as always Thomas! Love the Koenigs. I was actually tempted to proceed with the Koenig 928 S4 kit next, but I opted to bother myself with the re-release of the Esci/ Italeri Mercedes 450 SLC first... ?
