I recently got back into modelling after a 20+ year hiatus..back in 2011 I was given the model as a gag gift by a friend who knew Novas were one of my favorite cars. At the time I was recovering from an injury and off work so I though I'd try my hand at building it.  I didn't get very far at the time, all I did was paint the body and ended up losing interest and sticking it back in the box and in a closet.  Well fast forward another 13 years and I decided to pull it back out and start on it again.  This time around I plan on finishing it.  Build will be heavily kit bashed with aftermarket resin or 3D printed stuff.  It will be built as a street/strip 80s-90s era street machine.  Already ordered a bunch of parts for it from VCG and futur attraction.  I will be using some weld pro stars from AMTs 57 corvette as well as the 9" ford housing, scratch built traction bars and a swap from a 4 speed to a th400 trans.  It will keep it's small block but have some random kit bashed stuff on it as well as a 3D printed carb and moroso valve covers.  Plan is to put a wired distributor in and some fuel line.  So far I've got the 9" fitted to the leaf springs and the body clearanced for the wheels and tires.  The paint on the body is a black base with old model masters ruby red over it.  I had to paint the chassis still and I'm shocked that the can still sprayed, pretty sure I bought that paint in about 2004.  For the interior, rather than do basic black like I had planned I wanted something different that showed a little more detail.  so I decided to go with a dark tan/light brown color..mixed up some different colors I had to get this.  That's as far as I've gotten for now though.  I'll post some more progress as I go.

Side note, I had this spare body that I used to test out the ruby paint years back, so I tried my hand at using a molotow chrome pen for the trim and WOW I wish I had thought of this years ago when I used to build models because I knocked out the whole thing in about 5 minutes...and it looks way better than silver paint and probably much easier than BMF.

Got some parts in the mail today from futur attractions, one of which were these 30x11 slicks..was planning on using a different tire in back but these look mean on there and just barely fit.  Might have to go with these.

Got the interior put together, added a set of accessory gauges under the dash and a 3D printed B&M shifter from VCG. Otherwise stock.

Looking good Kevin. That thing really has some ATTITUDE!?

thanks! the rear tires changed the whole look..was originally going to put some smaller street tires on from the AMT 57 corvette street machine kit, but after trying these I couldn't resist lol.

Made some more progress, got the engine mostly together and painted, had to modify the intake to fit a bit better as it came out of a 1:24th scale stock car kit, added a carb spacer and drilled some accessory holes in the heads and some molotow chrome to the ends of the heads to give the appearance of a machined face of aftermarket aluminum heads..still have to add some black wash to the carb and valve covers.  Waiting on a wired distributor from morgan automotive detail..placed the order 10 days ago and haven't gotten an email confirmation or shipping details yet so don't know what's going on with them.  But it's coming together.

Did some test fitting to see if I could slip the body over the interior tub and chassis..unfortunately the interior has to be fastened to the body before hand.  I plan on running fuel line with a regulator mounted to the inner fender but can't do that until the body is on the interior tub and chassis since the inner fenders are attached to the interior.  But figured I would throw the rear end and tires on to give me an idea how it all looks.. so far I'm happy with how it's turned out.

Great progress, I really could have used an intake like that one?, looking good!

Thank you! the intake came out of one of the older monogram GM stock car kits, I added the carb spacer to give it a little more height overall.

Decided the interior was lacking a little and was going back and forth about putting a roll bar in but didn't like the kit roll bar, so I made up my own 6 point roll bar that fits in with the back seat..wasn't too fun building it around an already assembled interior but got it done.  Also added some "tarnishing" to the headers to give them a stainless look as if they were run for a while and added a fuel line to the carb that I'll connect to braided line and AN fittings and a regulator once the body is on the chassis.  Should be finishing it up soon.
