378 Conversion...

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, here is my take on a Pete 389 highway tractor converted to a Gravel truck ....... a lot of fiddling went into this, had to shorten the frame 3/4 inch, changed drive tires, changed front rims and tires, use the excellent CTM photo etch for the dash, added front fender flares, adjusted the box cab guard,  changed the box tail lights too...and my good friend Ron G. ( Crafty Craftsman ) gave me the dump box from the Revell Kenworth kit as he wasn't going to use the box on his build, I love this truck, I think the 378 is my Favorite Pete... anyway here are a few of the final results, I hope it passes muster and you guys think it is ok....

Excellent conversion. I like the added details and aftermarket parts. The fender flares are great, along with those big front floats. Nice paint, great color and finish.

Thanks for the kind words, it was a fun build and I think the big floats always make a good looking heavy haul gravel truck. All the tandems I drove had them, and I think they have a muscular feel.... the color is actually Model Master Blue Angel Blue  ............ sure wish MM was still available.... thanks again, I really appreciate your thoughts...

Thanks fellas... it was fun although a little scary cutting the frame down, and I like the fender flares as well, seems to me that it finishes off the front wheel assembly . And a gravel truck with out the floats just doesn't look right to these old eyes. Thanks fort he very kind comments, I really do appreciate it...
