yellowsportwagon Posted April 20, 2024 Posted April 20, 2024 Built this for the son of the driver/car owner. Haven’t done a stock car in a while. Johan body on an AMT chassis with Johan headers. Custom decals PPP tires. Tomorrow I have to bring it to his house. 16
bobss396 Posted April 21, 2024 Posted April 21, 2024 That is excellent, looks like a real stock car. Very obscure too. Questions: What paint was used, what did you use for the tire stripes? Are those the decals that come with the PPP tires?
TonyK Posted April 21, 2024 Posted April 21, 2024 Looks very sharp. Those decals around the wheel wells had to be fun. ?
MarkJ Posted April 21, 2024 Posted April 21, 2024 Tim, another awesome build from your bench and I'm sure the recipient of it will be very happy to get it. Let me take a wild guess here, that car was an ex-Petty Plymouth!

CaddyDaddy Posted April 21, 2024 Posted April 21, 2024 Hey Tim.......you can solve I problem I’ve been facing for a long time: where did you get those numbers? I’ve been trying to find outlined gold leaf or silver leaf numbers for eons!
Chuckyg1 Posted April 22, 2024 Posted April 22, 2024 Wow, nicely done. Beautiful work. The blue really pops.

Street Rod Posted May 12, 2024 Posted May 12, 2024 Very well done Plymouth! I think your client will be very pleased!
bobss396 Posted May 18, 2024 Posted May 18, 2024 I started watching the USAC series in 1983 on TNT. They ran on dirt and pavement. At that time they were running 1979-ish Monte Carlos with 427 power under the hood. I still catch them on cable, channel 810 on Fios.
sflam123 Posted May 24, 2024 Posted May 24, 2024 I probably saw this car race! I went to several USAC stock car shows, both dirt and pavement in the late 60's and early 70's. You did a great job with capturing the "feel" of that era in USAC stock car racing.
Ragtop Man Posted May 28, 2024 Posted May 28, 2024 That there is a race car. Got all the feels right on it.
