dino246gt Posted July 1, 2024 Posted July 1, 2024 (edited) I'll join in the Sedan Build Off with this if I may. It's not really a '32, but I'll use a '32 frame and grille. I had this old body, so FIRST, I removed those little rear fenders. Then I made somewhat of a firewall from styrene sheet and strips. I removed the fuel tank from a Revell '32 frame. I fitted some inner rear fenders. I made a flat rear floor for the sedan, again from styrene sheet. I cut open a cowl vent hole. For now it's just sitting in the shop while I work on other projects, waiting to see if it's acceptable for this Build Off. Edited July 1, 2024 by dino246gt 10

The old orange crate body looks so cool and I always wondered what it would take to put on a revell 32 frame. Looking forward to your build. 2

I see you also removed the insert from the top. 1
dino246gt Posted July 1, 2024 Posted July 1, 2024 So.............am I good to enter? I thought it had to be the Revell sedan kit only? Cheers, and HAPPY CANADA DAY! 2

I thought it had to be the Revell sedan kit only? * ONLY 1932 Tudor Sedans in 1:25/1:24, no matter the kit manufacturer. No Vickies, no Phaetons (even if based on chopped Tudor), no '31s, no Woodies etc... you get the idea. * Any body allowed. Kit's, 3D printed, resin... as long as it is a '32 Tudor Sedan. Some of the great resin cast four door bodies are also permitted. Delivery sedan conversions also allowed. Chopped or stock. * No previously finished models permitted in this thread. This is a fresh challenge. You can enter an already started project, but only if it is no more than 30% complete. *Build-off starts now and the finish line is October 15th. That's almost 5 months, which should give everyone plenty of time to complete their Tudor, considering the subject matter. ______________________________________________________________________________________________ From what I gathered from above, looks like it's any manufacturer and it just has to be based on a 32 sedan. That means your good to go! Looking forward to more of your build, Model on! 4
Bullybeef Posted July 2, 2024 Posted July 2, 2024 Ok, bench set up is complete and scavengeing has commenced. I had a leftover body from the og issues of the sedan including the windshield frame and glass( lucky to find that stuff). I’ll be pulling parts from the new tool roadster, the og 5 window kit and the stash. Will decide later if it will be fendered, highboy or channelled over the frame. Have to do some more mock up work and source an appropriate engine. but I’m in! 9
Speedpro Posted July 3, 2024 Posted July 3, 2024 Had a left-over piece from the '30 top I salvaged the back window from. The visor. Was surprised how easily it was to make work. Almost like it was supposed to be there. Had to do a little filling, sanding and blending into the top. Overall, looks ok and was worth the effort. Also started some work on the frame. Decided to channel the body over the frame. What I did was thin down the frame, which in turn made the body look lower. Of course, this brings along a few more areas like the firewall, rear fenders and door panels that will need some work so everything plays nicely together. Didn't want to cover the whole frame from view, just about 3/4's of it. Till next time.................... 8

stitchdup Posted July 3, 2024 Posted July 3, 2024 Does it have to start with a sedan kit? i've only got a coupe and roadster kit but my idea is based on a sedan and i enjoy bodymods. Nobody has come close to my idea yet.....
Bullybeef Posted July 3, 2024 Posted July 3, 2024 Well after a long round of scavenging I’ve sourced a suitable drivetrain. It’s one I had earmarked for another project but that one is a long way from seeing a bench. I’ll be dubbing the sedan the “Leftover” as it will comprise mainly of unused parts and bits scavenged from some stillborn ideas. I’m a long way off from actually starting any assembling, I still have to sort through the stack of boxes and see what else I can scavenge (no completed builds will be harvested I promise ( I did that a lot in my youth)). Stay tuned for a pic update soon. 4

So far, the result of Ur work shows an aggressive attitude with so much attention to the minutiae details of body lines and a subtle symmetry that has been hidden in the old deuce sedan. Carry on! -KK 2 1
dino246gt Posted July 3, 2024 Posted July 3, 2024 I wanted a small block Chevy in my sedan, old school-ish. I found this one in the Rat-Roaster kit, but the oil pan was too modern so I took one out of an OLD '55 Chevy kit. That oil pan had a bump on the top and a pin on the bottom and was too long. No problem though, I made it fit and kept the side motor mounts. I also drilled for a new drain plug! After I test fitted it I needed a tiny bit more clearance under my cobbled together parts box build. Should I keep posting all these pictures of such little progress on this thread or is it too much? 7

dino246gt Posted July 5, 2024 Posted July 5, 2024 (edited) I have these old school finned valve covers with rounded ends, I like those. The heads have a mounting block that's too long so I used a small grinding burr to make the valve covers fit. The '29 Model A Roadster Revell kit's triple carb intake also needed the mounting block removed. Headers from the '32 Ford Roadster Revell kit won't stay chrome and I've drilled out the ends. Exhaust pipes and mufflers also from that '32 Ford Roadster kit, and I drilled out those ends as well. I'm having so much fun with this thing, even though I still don't know what it'll look like! Building as I go with parts I can find on hand. Edited July 5, 2024 by dino246gt 5

bill-e-boy Posted July 5, 2024 Posted July 5, 2024 So many good builds going on here. Good to see life in the old Orange Crate body too. Had a couple over the years but could not bring myself to do anything with them so will be looking with interest. I have worked on the rolled pan and rather than have a big wide slab I have created another moulding to break things up a bit Kepp up the good works 5
NerdmanB Posted July 5, 2024 Posted July 5, 2024 I’m going to join this build . Haven’t started yet, just a note to stitchdup aka Les Budge. If you need a body I can send one your way. I will have an e tra body. I’m not sure how you do this but if you give me shipping info I would be happy to send you a body, to get you started. Let me know. Brian 4
carnut Posted July 6, 2024 Posted July 6, 2024 Here is my update. I have filled the cut seams with 3M glazing buddy and now it’s time to send this stuff off and reestablish lines and door lines. I’m definitely taking an early 60s show car look to this with the rear pan. Time for some primer and then some more sanding. 6
