Can't go wrong with that Hemi. I just always thought that Hemis look better with something beefier for induction on top of them. It's such a large engine that a single row of Strombergs kinda gets lost on top of it. The forum's own Maplelleaf Motorparts makes a killer six carb intake for that motor.

I’ll stick with the four from r&m, but thanks for the heads up!

Things are moving along well for the body modifications. Now it’s time for me to turn to the suspension. my plans are to use the drop front axle modified from the 32 Ford kit and I do want to use the big and little white walls from Replicas and Miniatures of Maryland. The rear end right now is from the Revell 32 Ford, 9 inch Ford rear end modified, but now I’ve managed to find a Corvette 1970s vintage rear end diff set up so which to choose?

So in the middle of a North Atlantic thunderstorm I had an epiphany, that before I packed everything a way I created a box of parts called “details matter” and I. That box were some r&m parts and specifically some nice cast resin bits! But this particular item was not marked as a r&m item. So I dragged the ole brain transport out of the bunk and went searching for the box with those items.

And lo and behold I found the box inside a larger box, that was buried in the bottom of a much larger box.

And here it is a sectioned deuce grill shell! So seeing as how I was awake and had creative juices flowing I attacked the firewall with a measurement device and my finest jump to conclusions mat. Fired up my sharpest chop saw and savagely attached the firewall legs!
the body itself required a small relief cut at the bottom of each side of the cowl to allow it to section over the frame. And to quote David Freiburger “Bam”

Welcome to the madness Robert!

The more the merrier! (that's a weird old saying, probably from around 1932))

This is just a little "how to" or "must do" that I'm sure most of you already know.

Hollow backs are filled with styrene filed to fit and drenched in extra thin glue then pushed hard in.

After dried, cut off and sanded to shape.

So easy and so much better.

Unfortunately that Revell rear end was not wide enough to clear the Orange Crate body.

I cut off those ends and drilled for some metal rod.

I used Plastruct tube over the metal rod, loaded with super glue and got the correct width.

Started adding brake lines and finned Buick drums.

It bugged me that the roof was so flat, so I scored the paint and built up a slight bow with scrap styrene and putty.

This was the most difficult part of the build so far and it isn't quite there yet but will be worth the extra effort.

I hope!

Been working on getting the hood and radiator dialed in. Things will look good one minute and not so good the next. Mind you, the thing is put together with tape at this point and I figured it would be best to stop before making a mistake. I need to know that things are where they need to be before making these changes or modifications. I also have a few more things that will be addressed or removed/changed.

I don't know about you guys, but I have been fighting to keep the interior pan in the exact same position during mockups. For me, I like the top of the door panel level with the door or window. But the back of the pan always keeps wanting to go up inside the body. I've been taping everything together during mockup and just want to drop the interior pan in without having to again tape it all together. Here is what I did. Have the floor pan with door panels and dash attached (I use tape). Fit this up inside the body and make a mark on both sides under the rear package tray. Remove the interior pan and put a piece of tape above the marks. You're going to make up the thickness of the package tray. Reinstall the interior pan and check the tape line from inside the car. It should be just above the package tray. Adjust as needed. I used 2 small pieces of scrap .030 evergreen and glued them in with tamiya extra thin. I like this glue because it gives time to move things around if needed. These little things are magic! The interior pan fits perfect and finds itself every time. And they are not very noticeable. For what they do is worth every minute it took to put them in. Now I can finish working on the hood and radiator fitting together.

Ended up deleting the door hinges and smoothing out the running boards. Trying to figure out a way to have the fenders attach in a more positive fashion.

Nice work Dennis and Paul you guys are doing major surgery. Mine will remain much more simplified no chopped top or hacked up frame rails. Below are my first two pics I lowered the stance as much as I dared without major mods, I think it looks a little better at least to me. All comments welcome.

Ya’ll are a bad influence!

Drag City Casting chopped body (which I mastered so technically I did chop it myself), new issue 32 Roadster chassis and blown small block, front wheels and tires from Moebius 65 Chevy II Gasser, Revell M&H slicks with the old 32 HiBoy Halibrand wheels (which are now in the Sedan reissue) and Louver Works louvered hood. Just dumped a bunch of chrome parts in the stripper. More to come…

I'll join in the Sedan Build Off with this if I may. It's not really a '32, but I'll use a '32 frame and grille.

I had this old body, so FIRST, I removed those little rear fenders.

Then I made somewhat of a firewall from styrene sheet and strips.

I removed the fuel tank from a Revell '32 frame.

I fitted some inner rear fenders.

I made a flat rear floor for the sedan, again from styrene sheet.

I cut open a cowl vent hole.

For now it's just sitting in the shop while I work on other projects, waiting to see if it's acceptable for this Build Off.

Hi Dennis, where did you get the wire big and little wheels in the last pic?

Cool body Dennis, nice stance. A small update from me I cut a hole in the roof so I can better see the interior also put the very basic engine together. All comments welcome.

I haven't been posting much, but I have been pecking away at my build...

I'm using the engine block from the Testors Boyd Smoothster with a T-5 trans, headers from the Revell '37 kit and some parts from the AMT Phantom Vickie (in this pic, the tubular center crossmember). Here I'm dialing in the exhaust, it still needs some work...

------------------

I'm also using the IFS from the Phantom Vickie kit

I had to lengthen the tie rod an RCH or two and I notched the frame it get it in place. I'm working on the steering linkage now, it will end up going between the header and the frame.

-------------------------

I also bobbed the rear fender a skoshe, just enough to get rid of some of the ski-jump look...

iuhib.thumb.jpg.6c97d82246762ae196625bf5dedbd462.jpg

the piece of fender snipped off is at the bottom of the pic.....

Back to the bench for more interior work.

More later.... -RRR

Time for an update, I did get a decent amount of the basic engine work done, Air cleaners are scratch built, distributor was moved from the center of the timing cover to the passengers side, I will have to move the generator to the drivers side. So far I am pretty happy with the results, all comments welcome.

Ok,I’m in! Got my kit last week.Like Dennis Lacys’ Tudor, I am going to use the new issue Revell 32 Roadsters’ chassis, the blown small block engine/trans and the wheels/tires. I am waiting on a few parts for it and trying to wrap up another project.Hopefully I will have more updates soon.

This is a very unlikely source of wheels but here I am, using 4 of the Hispano Suiza kit rims with 2 parts box tires on the front and the Heller tires on the rear!

Just a mock up to verify the stance, I like it!

Plan is for knock offs.
