mchook Posted June 8, 2024 Posted June 8, 2024 I got one of these from Ollies and really didn't want or need it, but it's a cheap model, so you know you HAVE TO BUY IT. I liked that it was a T style body but it looks a little too cartoonish to me so I figured a C cab would look better. I couldn't leave the engine alone either so I went for an old Model A Ford instead because, well why not. Here's what I got mocked up so far. 3
Edward Gore Posted June 8, 2024 Posted June 8, 2024 I like that the design also has a sort of Fragezeichen* thing going on as well. *love that word 1
Street Rod Posted June 9, 2024 Posted June 9, 2024 I’m digging your mods on this trike, gonna look really cool! 1
mchook Posted June 15, 2024 Author Posted June 15, 2024 Primer is on to show me how bad it is. Lots of work ahead of me. 3
mustang1989 Posted June 16, 2024 Posted June 16, 2024 Love the changes you are making to this one Mark. She's coming together in good fashion. 1
mchook Posted June 23, 2024 Author Posted June 23, 2024 Thanks guys for the comments. I did manage to get some of the engine done. I can't put the plug wires on the plugs until it's all together because they go over the handlebars. I built a radiator for it and boxed in the back just big enough to fit a couple cases of Coke. I've had a tough time stripping the chrome, usually my oven cleaner does it quick but lately I haven't had much luck with it. It doesn't seem to work on the newer kits, anyone got a better idea please let me know. 2
lucky 130 Posted June 23, 2024 Posted June 23, 2024 This is so cool. I just got the same kit for the same reason. CHEAP. Just had not even thought what I'd do with it. Thanks for causing me to think way outside the box. 1
iBorg Posted June 23, 2024 Posted June 23, 2024 I really like where this is going. Modifying this into a C cab is a stroke of genius. 2
Mattblack Posted June 26, 2024 Posted June 26, 2024 Looking good! I always use bleach to strip chrome, I can't recall it failing to work. I've just done some parts of an old AMT kit and it took seconds. 2

stavanzer Posted June 29, 2024 Posted June 29, 2024 I like this! I really like the C-cab, and the 'Banger' is an inspired engine choice. 1
mchook Posted July 19, 2024 Author Posted July 19, 2024 Thanks everyone! I managed to make a back door & hinge for this thing and got some paint on it too. 5
redscampi Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 This build is really turning out noice! Great work on the rear door and paint work! 1
ozmodeler Posted July 20, 2024 Posted July 20, 2024 Great idea to covert to "C" cab. Front windshield pillars maybe a bit "heavy", but overall an awesome looking build. 1
Bugatti Fan Posted July 20, 2024 Posted July 20, 2024 Nice 'off the wall project' converting this kit to a C cab. Should look great when finished. The original cab body is reminiscent of the old Eldon Milk Truck kit I built years ago. Even the 'Milk' decal is similar in style to the Eldon kit decal. 1
mustang1989 Posted July 22, 2024 Posted July 22, 2024 Some good progress goin on here Mark. Good color choice too. 1

I know what you mean about those Windshield posts, I wish I had thinned them out everytime I look at it. Well, too late now. Thanks Noel, I noticed those similarities too. 2 hours ago, mustang1989 said: Some good progress goin on here Mark. Good color choice too. Thanks Joe, I'm sure I'll get some people booing me over the next pics with the decals, but it will be cool when it's ALL finished. 1
mchook Posted July 22, 2024 Author Posted July 22, 2024 I know it's not for everyone but I figured I'd use some of this Coca Cola stuff. This part of it is getting closer to being done. It will get a surprise trailer for it next. Can you guess what it will be hauling? 4
mustang1989 Posted July 23, 2024 Posted July 23, 2024 Still lookin' good from my angle Mark and the Coke cases in the back are a good touch. 1

I think it's all going to come together with the Jack Daniels trailer I plan on building.
mchook Posted July 27, 2024 Author Posted July 27, 2024 I got the radiator and headlight mounted and started the wiring. It's getting there. 3
mchook Posted August 2, 2024 Author Posted August 2, 2024 Well, the trike is just about done. I wanted to do more wiring & plumbing but my eyes and hands said NOT HAPPENING! Now it's time for the trailer. I started with an old 60s built utility trailer from my parts box and made a better looking tongue for it. Next is figuring out the sides. Here's a pic of the decals for it too. 2
mchook Posted August 5, 2024 Author Posted August 5, 2024 Got the walls up and doors made for the trailer. It's getting there. 1
mchook Posted August 10, 2024 Author Posted August 10, 2024 Got the fenders started & doors hinged. Slowly getting there. 2
