OldTrucker Posted August 2, 2024 Posted August 2, 2024 I am quickly remembering why the first one I tried building in the late 1970s never got finished!!! I'm determined to finish it this time! 1
OldTrucker Posted August 3, 2024 Author Posted August 3, 2024 (edited) The edges of almost every piece has to be cleaned up. Horrible alignment of the dyes make it impossible to completely clean up the parting lines completely and nothing lines up. And I thought the original release was bad! LOL Edited August 3, 2024 by OldTrucker 1
Jim B Posted August 4, 2024 Posted August 4, 2024 I built this kit back in 2010, and I said, "Never again!" I don't know how people build the plated kit. It has to be just as bad, but with all that plating to scrape. 1
hct728(Bob) Posted August 7, 2024 Posted August 7, 2024 I put one aside unpainted when I found a chrome version, it's pretty impressive all done up. Mine needs a matching tractor. It was designed so the edges are covered up for the most part, just the ends to clean up, but well worth the effort. Yours looks neatly done so far, keep up the momentum!
OldTrucker Posted August 17, 2024 Author Posted August 17, 2024 Moving along slow but getting there. Paint cure times seem to keep getting slower and slower. 2
BK9300 Posted August 17, 2024 Posted August 17, 2024 For all the grief the prep has given you, it’s coming along great. 1
Biggu Posted August 17, 2024 Posted August 17, 2024 It’s inspiring me to get mine out and finish it …. Looking forward to the next update Jeff
OldTrucker Posted August 18, 2024 Author Posted August 18, 2024 This thing is nerveracking!!! But finally got the frame in place best that I could. CA is your friend at moments like this! 1
OldTrucker Posted August 21, 2024 Author Posted August 21, 2024 A little more done. Keep getting pulled away from the bench. 3
Rockford Posted August 23, 2024 Posted August 23, 2024 It's going to look great when it's done, I like the contrasting colour on the chassis, I'd have probably been lazy and painted everything aluminium. Worth all the effort. I've got one of these that I hope to build one day. You're inspiring me. I might even do a 1/32 one to go with my fleet. 1
David G. Posted August 23, 2024 Posted August 23, 2024 I'm interested to see how all this comes out. It looks good so far. David G. 1
OldTrucker Posted August 25, 2024 Author Posted August 25, 2024 Getting closer, ready to do the decals. 2
