I completed this model two years ago. This is an original Monogram 1/24 scale plastic model kit from when the car was brand new. The exterior paint is Tamiya gold. The interior is Dupli-Color Vinyl & Fabric paint I got from Canadian Tire. The kit comes with a turbo charger that I did not install on my car. The round air cleaner came from the '77 Ford Econoline van kit and was slightly modified to make the entire piece look like how it appears on the actual car. I added seat belt and radio antenna to make the model look more realistic.

If anyone else built a model of a Chevy Citation I would love to see that.

Really beautiful build i have always liked that car back when they came out the guy next door had one it was a sharp car for the time i have always wanted one of those kits i found one on ebay last year's unbuilt same kit in the yellow plastic it was a really good price the only thing the tires and wheels were missing i will come up with something from the parts box for that. I like your color combo.

Great looking paint finish and color. The interior is very realistic looking. The X-11 option made these cars into a pretty good performance car for its time.

I don't get why anyone would brand a car Citation, maybe they were expecting it to go so fast that it would attract alot of police attention ?. Your build is very well done and looks much nicer than the box art. Lots of nice detail too. Well done Racine.

Cheers,

David. ??

Welcome to the forum.  Nice work.  Cool to see a build of this kit.  I have this kit in my stash. I am going to convert it to a 4 door hatchback that my parents drove when I was a kid.  It was a lousy car but I have a lot of fond memories of it.

Nice build, Racine, a very rare subject that we seldom see built.

One as lovingly crafted as yours shows a fine appreciation of, and respect for, the original cars.

I butchered this kit as a kid, and I was very fortunate to have found another awhile back.

This time, a little less appreciation and respect, and a little more mild tuner!

Never even heard of the kit. As a matter of fact, never even heard of the car. But I am glad you showed it here. It is really cool. I have to say I have never seen Tamiya gold looking this good.

I have this kit and I plan on building it like the one I owned. Mine was the entry level. Only options on it was power steering, power brakes, and an am radio. 4 cylinder with 3 speed on the floor. For a 4 banger is would cruise along at 75 mph with no problem plus return great mpg. So I would have to find a 4 cylinder engine to recreate mine. Being almost 70. I don't now if that build will ever happen.
