I may even try to do the same lights on a Falcon and see how they look. 20 hours ago, OldNYJim said: Nice work on this build - I like the taillight idea especially Thanks Jim, I think I lucked out by the fact they fit so well. 4 hours ago, espo said: Been wondering what had happened to this build. The front and rear "clips" from the AM chassis may be one idea. That's the way I'm leaning David. Picked up a bunch of styrene strips thinking of making the rails with them. I need to mock up the suspension parts on the chassis and see how it looks. 1
David G. Posted February 22 Posted February 22 It looks like mating up the engine, chassis and body will present some challenges Len. But seeing what you accomplished with the side trim, I'm sure you'll get it all sorted. Funny thing, AMT's '57 Ford Hardtop had the same sink marks on the front fenders. It must be a model-year feature from Ford! David G. 1

I slanted the B pillar of the door to match the angle of the rear window. I added a few millimeters to the rear window to line up to the slanted B pillar of the door. Nice clean fab work!

I keep getting the urge to paint the body to see how she looks but with all the other work still ahead I think I better hold off because it's going to need a lot of handling.

Scott Colmer Posted February 23 Posted February 23 First time I saw this thread. Love what you are doing. Small changes for big impact. I'll be watching.
Scott Colmer Posted February 23 Posted February 23 One more thing. I hope you don't mind. Please consider adding a slight arc to this vertical drop. The rest of the side of the car has arcs and curves at the fenderwells. Keep up the GREAT work! 1

arpbob Posted March 5 Posted March 5 Lenny, this was my dilemma as well when choosing new wheels for the car. My solution was to use the pin drive true knock off 427 Cobra wheels with a polished lip and gold centers. Honored you are building this. I also have plans to build one for myself and have been gathering parts. Bob Florine 2
Bullybeef Posted March 5 Posted March 5 Wow Len, can’t beat that kind of reference material! It’s like you are a celebrity builder now.🙄

At a quick glance, and with full disclosure that I like to look for an easy way, here’s my thought. Could you split the difference by removing a section (by eye, maybe 4 scale inches) from just ahead of the rear wheel opening. Then move the rear door line back about half the distance from where it is, to where the trim jogs upward? (Looks like maybe 3 scale inches?). The downside would be that the vehicle is then 4” shorter, which might be a hard no for you, this would also result in chassis mods/shorter wheelbase. However, it might make it look sportier?! The bonus would be minimal trim reworking… As for the upper tail fin extension, I think it’s styrene, sand, fill, prime , sand, fill, prime… Just my initial thoughts. The door was extended 5 1/2 inches and the trim was lined up off of the radius of the wheel. Well, the trim had to be cut and welded back together and then sanded and polished then recruited. The fin was raised up to match the eyebrow and door handle of the 57 Tibert. Yes, the fence was raised from the back where it started all the way up to match the eyebrow.. also the wheel wheel was raised up 3 1/2 inches.

I like the look of those wheels, I have something similar I'm using on a T-Bird build. Those pics will be a big help, especially the chassis as that's where I'm hung up now. Cheers!

I found an Art Morrison frame in an AMT 39 Chevy kit which will have to be heavily modified for the Ford. So that's my starting point. Good info on the front spindles. I'll let you know if I need any more chassis shots once I get into it. Thanks again.
