Taking a page from the MPC playbook with the typography on the cover!  Looks good, will be a great one to build.

Not sure if anyone else remembers Tim Boyd's SA (or was it MCM?) article on building this kit and the few mods needed to get everything all lined up - I recall moving the rear axle, for example.

If that rings a bell and you can post the Volume and Issue date, that would be great!

That would be the Feb/2001 issue, Bob.

Can't one just use the complete chassis from the '68'69?

Wondering

It's a very good question, 'cause not only would that sort your engine mounts, it'd bring you the poseable steering from the ProModeler-based kits that the '70 lacks.  We'd be talking entirely different wheels and mounting systems, which might confine you the 68/'69 Magnums or the '68's steel wheels, unless you were feeling more adventurous.

Far as I can tell, the chassis plates are close enough they might interchange, needing only the most minor work if any.  But as it's been pointed out, there's less rearward bias for the rear axle in the '70 than there is in the '68/'69.

^^^^ THIS ^^^^  - Thank you, Tim! I will be looking this up on my DVD and bookmarking.

Beyond the Charger, so many of Tim's build stories had/have great suggestions for solving the simple faults that seem to work their way into so many kits, the reviews were invaluable to me as a buy/pass guide. Well, mostly buy. Knowing there IS a way that a simple mod can take a build from 'eh' to 'Oh!' is invaluable. Tim's reviews were one of the best parts of the classic SA (with E) and other mags.
