Matt Bacon Posted November 4, 2024 Posted November 4, 2024 The fourth in a series of displays to pay tribute to illustrator and Airfix box art legend Roy Cross. This is the Merit kit from the late 1950s, and it's still a better shape than the much later Protar offering... The body is painted with Tamiya Gloss Aluminium spray, the supercharger intake is built up in Milliput, and the rims are 3D printed Mercedes 300SL wheels from Ukrainian Scale Car Production. The Fangio figure is an Immense Miniatures generic body with "Late career" Fangio head, now available from RS Slot Racing in the UK. best, M. 5
Roger U Posted November 4, 2024 Posted November 4, 2024 Really good looking model. The painting of the car and the driver looks very realistic. 1
Phildaupho Posted November 4, 2024 Posted November 4, 2024 I am really enjoying your series of Airfix box art cars. Well done. 1
Pierre Rivard Posted November 5, 2024 Posted November 5, 2024 Another great one Matt. So happy to see a Fangio build. These days he is rarely mentioned in the discussion of all time greats yet his record in days of lethal and unreliable cars was nothing short of a miracle. He is the GOAT in my book. 1 1
Mike 1017 Posted November 5, 2024 Posted November 5, 2024 Nice piece of racing History. These were Crazy Brave Drivers leather helmets, no seat belt, hydraulic drum brakes and the gas tank behind their head. Mike 1
Dave B Posted November 5, 2024 Posted November 5, 2024 Another great build Matt, this one using the old, but great, Merit kit a basis. The wire wheels, and your modifications, make an enormous improvement. Dave B 1 1
1959scudetto Posted November 6, 2024 Posted November 6, 2024 A very fine tribute to Fangio, Matt - and of course another fine model for your Roy Cross tribute series. Your upgrades and alterations make this kit look very convincing. I really do hope that your series will continue. 1
