ramblerman Posted November 7, 2024 Posted November 7, 2024 I originally built this in 1975 when I was 18. Over the years it deteriorated, parts fell off and the paint on the cab flaked off. It’s been in a box for at least 30 years now and I decided it was time to restore it and get it back into the display case. The wheels, tires, chassis, and engine are still the way I originally built it. Wheels and tires are AMT, chrome reverse from the ‘34 Ford pickup issued in the’70’s. And the tires and hubcaps are from the mid ‘70’s issue of the ’37 Chev Coupe. I stripped the body, bed, and fenders then primed them with Testors #1237. I painted everything silver with Testors #1246 like before. The fenders are finished like they were before with Testors #1631 Purple Metal Flake over silver. The cab and bed are cleared with Pledge Revive, they were not clearcoated before. The upholstery and roof are brush painted using Testors #1172 bottle enamel like I had done before. 8
espo Posted November 9, 2024 Posted November 9, 2024 Interesting paint color combination, great looking finishes. Like the interior details and the opening doors.
ramblerman Posted November 12, 2024 Author Posted November 12, 2024 Thanks for the positive feedback.
dustym Posted November 13, 2024 Posted November 13, 2024 (edited) I have the Butara chassis, I should restore someday. That turned out very nice. Edited November 13, 2024 by dustym
STU111 Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 That turned out great. Certainly benefited from the rebuild. ??
XYHARRY Posted November 17, 2024 Posted November 17, 2024 Nice 70s vibe on this cool restoration. Well done Jim. Cheers, David. ??
'70 Grande Posted December 25, 2024 Posted December 25, 2024 Nice restoration build! I assume it has the kit's little 4-banger under the hood... sure would like to see some pics of that, too!
ramblerman Posted December 26, 2024 Author Posted December 26, 2024 This kit was missing the left engine block half so I used popsicle sticks to make the engine half.
