stitchdup Posted November 12, 2024 Posted November 12, 2024 I have run out of superglue and i dont like to be without something to putter around with so i've pulled this onto the bench. The plan is swap some parts from the revell merc (wheels and engine) and use an amt parts pack for the front end changes. i might swap the seat for one from the monogram 36 coupe too as it looks more suited to the look i want 2
stitchdup Posted November 12, 2024 Author Posted November 12, 2024 well the saw has been out and its not a foose now. i will do the other side of the hood once this side has set up some. i didn't want to do both sides so i can hopefully save the ford centre. the louvres are from the extra revell merc hood. 7
stitchdup Posted November 13, 2024 Author Posted November 13, 2024 I finished up the hood vents this afternoon and then i added fins to the bed. I've done them oversize for now as i want to soften the edges and they wont stick out the back as much or be quite so pointed either. 3
stitchdup Posted November 16, 2024 Author Posted November 16, 2024 I decided the rear end needed something else so I'm using an amt parts pack bumper mounted upside down. the mesh area will be the rear lights. I think its maybe lincoln or mopar but i'm not sure. it had pretty big mold lines on the corners so i used them as a guide to chop them down. I'll be continuing the edge from the bumper across the fender which kinda lines up with the running boards. speaking of which, they're getting tuck n roll tops and extended just a hair to smooth them in to the rear fenders. if i can get the interior in with the body fully assembled i may even try molding them into the body too. i also found a left over 50 ford seat to t'n'r to backdate the seat. 3
JollySipper Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 The rear bumper will compliment the fins quite nicely! This is looking really cool, Les......... I think the rectangle headlights will be the way to go...... 1
Zippi Posted November 18, 2024 Posted November 18, 2024 I'm really diggin this build so far Les. Looking pretty kewl dude. 1
slusher Posted November 19, 2024 Posted November 19, 2024 Real nice work Les, i saw a custom build some time ago using that same grill…. 1
chris chabre Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 Ill be watching! Might even make me pull my project back out! The rear bumper is a desoto front bumper 1
stitchdup Posted December 6, 2024 Author Posted December 6, 2024 i did a quick stance test and it sat way too high for the build style. to fix this i cut the axle mount area from the chassis and raised them to the bed floor which brought the rear down another 4mm, still not really low enough but it'll have to do as i dont want to get bogged down on the chassis as it will never be seen. i've also made progress on the seat. i used 0.40 half round strips but 0.60 would have been better imo. the seats actually near finished with only the rear edges to complete. its taken 3 full packs to do the seat and probably another pack and a half will do the door panels. i might do the dah top too theres been a couple other bits started too but they aint in a position for pics yet 2
lordairgtar Posted December 10, 2024 Posted December 10, 2024 Looks like an awesome project. BTW, the rear bumper is from a 1960 DeSoto front end. 1
