bobthehobbyguy Posted January 6 Posted January 6 I'm building an entry for the 2025 Cannonball community build. The goal is to build an entry that could compete in the 1975 Cannonball. I choose the Johan Pro Stock Maverick which I belief is a 1971. The chassis is an old promo style plate which wasn't going to work. I looked at several kits and found that the Monogram 427 AC Cobra would work by stretching the chassis a little bit. I will be using the Cobra chassis, suspension, and wheels and tires. I'm also considering using the engine. This helps allot in assuring that this project will be done. photo1 is checking to see the frame works. Have a fresh kit to use for the chassis. Photo2 mockup with the tires. More to come. 9
LennyB Posted January 6 Posted January 6 I got one of these in the planning stages was going to use the Revell '71 Mustang Chassis.
oldcarfan Posted January 12 Posted January 12 That's nice! Good idea to use the Cobra as a start, should be good for long distances and high speeds. lol
bobthehobbyguy Posted January 13 Author Posted January 13 Thanks for all the positive comments guys. Working on cleaning upthe suspension pieces. Working out a couple of others things that need to be figured out. Will post photos when I get to a point that is worth showing.
slusher Posted January 13 Posted January 13 Bob, you off too a great start sir and the Cobra chassis looks good under your maverick!
bobthehobbyguy Posted January 14 Author Posted January 14 OK got something to show. I mated the back part of the Cobra to the interior tub(just tacked in place needs to be mounted permanently). I also added a slight flare to the rear fenders) they will be blended in to be less notable. Next up will be to get the chassis mocked up to see what's next. 3
bobthehobbyguy Posted February 1 Author Posted February 1 Haven't been able to get bench time. Hoping to get some time in the next few days. Will update when I do get some time.
WillyBilly Posted February 1 Posted February 1 I am digging this build for sure. Can't wait to see the finished product.
bobthehobbyguy Posted February 22 Author Posted February 22 Sorry guys haven't been working on this. Been having issues with my right shoulder. I'm getting physical therapy to get through it. I'm really looking forward to getting back on this.
bobthehobbyguy Posted Thursday at 06:18 PM Author Posted Thursday at 06:18 PM Finally back on the bench. Chassis was lengthened using a second chassis. Only thing I need to do is lengthen the driveshaft.. Using the Cobra interior. Seats, dash and stretched tub. Using the top part of the maverick dash. A rough mock up of work done so far. 2

bobthehobbyguy Posted 10 hours ago Author Posted 10 hours ago More progress on the interior. Found something to use to fill in the tunnel in the interior. Added plastic to clean up the underside of the interior and to add strength to the unit. Mocked up the body with the glass and the interior tub to make sure there are no issues. It will need a little more adjustment. I had to use a second dash to match the position of the Cobra dash. Need to continue cleanup on the interior. More to come. 2
