Ace-Garageguy Posted January 28 Posted January 28 (edited) EDIT: Watch the video. The performance is impressive. The claims about its low cost and in-house development may be bunk, but there is no denying that watching its thought-paths in real time is just like a human internal dialog while solving a problem. MeatMan Posted January 29 Posted January 29 The scary thing is that we are in the infancy of this level of AI, and its open source! It will get better and faster. People will need to think long and hard about their career choices in the future. Imagine 6 years of college to find out that your chosen profession no longer exists! 2
Dave Ambrose Posted January 30 Posted January 30 One thing to keep in mind -- none of these AI systems is doing symbolic reasoning. They can identify patterns and generate things matching patterns, basically running the recognizer backwards. But they can't extend beyond what they've seen in any groundbreaking way. I suspect DeepThink was behind the forum server loading problems some months back. We cut them off so don't ask it any car modeling questions. 🙂 AI can do some very useful things, but you need to understand its limitations too. 2
bobthehobbyguy Posted January 30 Posted January 30 Garbage in garbage out. If AI is going to be trained it needs to be a valid verified data source. Scraping random data is building a foundation on quicksand. 1
Ace-Garageguy Posted January 30 Author Posted January 30 (edited) Just curious...did any of you all happen to watch the video? Edited January 30 by Ace-Garageguy

The demonstration has zero to do with "scraping random data".
thatz4u Posted January 31 Posted January 31 view the "We are in Danger" video also about the Willow... 1

If you mean the oogie-boogie stuff posted on the Top Master channel (and others), it sounds to me like a lot of made up fear-mongering gobbledygook clickbait hooey (probably generated by AI anyway). But choo just never know (cue X-Files music...) LOTSA FOLKS: ME: Edited February 1 by Ace-Garageguy
Can-Con Posted February 1 Posted February 1 But it makes you wonder what AI would come up with if you asked one [hypothetically] how it would take over the planet. [spoiler, someone already did. 🤨] 1
Dave Ambrose Posted February 1 Posted February 1 I did watch the video. Those questions were very carefully selected. They contained no ambiguities. I also note the he didn't ask it to solve any symbolic logic problems. That likely would have revealed the underlying flaws. That said, it is clearly capable of some very useful stuff. 2
stitchdup Posted February 1 Posted February 1 theres a really simple test they can use to see if ai works. just get some toddlers to ask it why? 5
Ace-Garageguy Posted February 17 Author Posted February 17 Google's AI appears to be self-training and getting a little smarter, helped along by everyone who searches a phrase with an easily construed meaning.
