Vince311 Posted February 13 Posted February 13 (edited) I’d like to add snaps around a truck bed. As if tonneau is off. 1:25 scale. How are others creating these? Dabs of silver paint? Edited February 13 by Vince311
stitchdup Posted February 13 Posted February 13 i'd chop up some small evergreen rod and drill holes to stick them in. if your fussy you can always drill the centres when they are glued to the body 2
johnyrotten Posted February 13 Posted February 13 (edited) I agree with Les. I just did something similar to make carriage bolts for a wood bed. Edited February 13 by johnyrotten
Pierre Rivard Posted February 13 Posted February 13 Hi Vince, for this model I used weld balls, in this case 0.6mm. I drilled very shallow 0.5mm holes, a mini drop of canopy glue and then the ball. Hope it helps. 3
BDSchindler Posted February 13 Posted February 13 (edited) I deleted it. Edited February 14 by BDSchindler Apparently, I offended someone with my comment 3

Fits tight on the bed and is removable... @BDSchindler This isn't relevant. The question was not about emulating a cover.... but to create the snaps. Edited February 13 by Vince311
StevenGuthmiller Posted February 13 Posted February 13 I always just use thin evergreen rod. Drill holes of a corresponding size and glue in short pieces of rod. Once dry, trim the rods and sand down to the length needed. I've never used this method for a truck tonneau, but I use it frequently to add convertible top boot snap moldings. Steve 5

Pierre Rivard Posted February 13 Posted February 13 Yes, sorry guys, I meant to say solder balls... 2
peteski Posted February 13 Posted February 13 Interesting. I've been dealing with electronic circuits (soldering included) for 40 years and I have never knew about solder balls! I wish I knew about these when I was building N scale (1:160) pool table. I made my own solder balls to use as cue balls, but they were a pain to make them all approximately the same size.

OldNYJim Posted February 14 Posted February 14 I, too, never heard of solder balls before - every day’s a school day! 1
