Rescued customs Posted February 20 Posted February 20 Hey guys it’s me. Another build on the bench 66 fairlane that I’m doing a “stock suspension concept” protouring build on …. So far I did frame reinforcements and built the wheels…. Wheels are 18x10 rear 19x12s in the three piece fashion (pics of that process…. Sanded till got the lips the way I wanted made the solid face and sanded a back barrel to with needed then added the stock hub cap) this is as far as got on this one this evening on to another (gotta show a few some love each evening ) 9

Zippi Posted February 20 Posted February 20 The Fairlane is looking good so far John. I like the 1:1 pic. 1
John B. Posted February 21 Posted February 21 Very cool model and actual car! My first car was a 1966 Fairlane with a 289 and C4 automatic. 1
Chevy II Posted February 21 Posted February 21 Really like those wheels & the actual car is killer. 1
Rescued customs Posted February 21 Author Posted February 21 Got a lil bit done this evening ….Decided I still wanted a bench but added a fold down arm rest with cup holders…. Choose pepper red for interior color and added some flocking and modified a bucket console to fit the bench…..have to figure out a steering wheel detail the dash and column set up … pedals ( if just being basic or PE foot pedal) and maybe a magazine or something to add some pop to the interior….. started on the engine just got stuff painted nothing assembled did make a batwing oil pan for it. Also forgot I did a mild shaving on the firewall all the oem not needed wiring and regulator ect just left the heater box but did smooth the box up some and made it nicer. Still have to decide if inner fender structure will be gloss black or pepper red ? My whole goal is to teach my son some simple build mods that don’t take a lot of time but make a big difference and keep the aftermarket parts to a minimum. Showing him the K.I.S.S. Mentality so he knows ya don’t have to spend tons money and order parts to make a kit pop. Welp y’all have a good evening more to come tomorrow thanks y’all 6
geras24 Posted February 21 Posted February 21 Great job on the armrest! The interior looks amazing! 1
Rescued customs Posted February 21 Author Posted February 21 Thanks appreciate it wish had lil more detail but oh well
Rescued customs Posted February 22 Author Posted February 22 Didnt get a lot done to this one today as I finished up the land speed Daytona and got the yellow Belvedere just about finished but did get the inner fenders shaved and painted and mocked up the front stance … hope y’all enjoy 5
Rescued customs Posted February 22 Author Posted February 22 And I may do a random change…. Pepper red wheel centers? Not sure but that just popped in mind to break up some the exterior white cause a pepper red lower strip would piss me off cause it would be straight and level and the body line is not…. On the things I hate about the 1:1 cars lol
Zippi Posted February 22 Posted February 22 Looking good there John and I'm liking the stance. That yellow Belvedere is looking prettty nice. 1
johnyrotten Posted February 22 Posted February 22 Looks killer so far, I like the red wheel center idea. Try painting up some styrene disc or paper for that matter, and seeing how you like it without actually painting them. 1

Ima make a test wheel ….. where the center can come out easy cause i have nuff ugly wheels with bigger style lips that can help me make some more sets like this 1

Thanks it was like 97 percent done so did not do a wip on it …. It’s a big cube tractor pull mountain motor hemi (650 plus cube like the 650 billet or Sonni engines even tho valve covers are not perfect to those engines ) but I’ll finish it this week prop and do a under glass with the specs and such thanks
Rescued customs Posted February 23 Author Posted February 23 Engine done and installed wired her up did dual 750 cfm carbs for the ole 514 cid FE stroker built a set of 180 degree headers and the front part the exhaust . Still have a ton to do and detail but it’s getting there …. Paint front inner fender bottom sides tomorrow and install coil overs to get stance just right hope y’all enjoy thanks 2
Sledsel Posted February 23 Posted February 23 Looking good!!! I like the frame mods. The seat came out nice! Are you going to open the front and rear window openings. They are too short as brought up on the forum in the past. Front and rear needs opened the width of the trim. Oddly the Comet kit is ok... 😖 Also, the flat pieces on the frame to the fender in front of the front tire are not there on a 1:1. I removed mine. Just an FYI 1

Just an FYI Windows … prop not I’m not spending a lot time on this build it don’t have to be perfect to a 1:1 car imo I’m just doin a fun build and want to spend a max of 2 weeks on this build …. the front aprons prop so since simple mode ….. I will delete the vent windows tho as the 1:1 that inspired this build is a one piece door window….I still have to decide on white wheel centers or the pepper red ? 1
