geras24 Posted February 22 Posted February 22 Hi guys, I'm going to build an AMT Fairlane GT/GTA. This is my entry for this year's Cannonball Run. The plan is to make it like the one in Fast X. For the engine, I'm thinking of adding a Weiand blower. 1
MeatMan Posted February 22 Posted February 22 I love it, but the rear wing looks a bit more modern that what was out in 1975 to me. 1 1
geras24 Posted February 22 Author Posted February 22 (edited) Some time ago, I painted the body, but then I left the hobby for a few years. Now with this build, I am going back to the amazing world of modeling. Well, first, I'm focusing on the hood and doing some scrap work while I gather all the stuff I need, like putty, paint, and everything else to build this kit. Removed the FORD letters y the inner line I made the hood scoop with styrene At that point, I was unhappy with the height, so I lowered it a little and did some more sanding. It is not ready yet, but I like how it's going. I removed the side badges from the Fairlane. And made the rear wing Next, I am going to build the engine, add a supercharger, and test how everything fits under the hood. Edited February 22 by geras24 2

I didn't even think about that I'll do some research to find a more period-correct wing for the 1975 vibe. Thanks for pointing that out
Rescued customs Posted February 22 Posted February 22 Imo I dislike the surfboard wing but a nascar inspired duck bill might fit the bill im currently doin a mild pro touring fairlane and also thinking of a wing of some sort … can’t wait to see more 2 1

Can’t wait to see what you come up with for your Fairlane too! 1
slusher Posted February 23 Posted February 23 I built this kit twice and it’s a great kit to build no fit issues,I will be following along! 1
geras24 Posted February 25 Author Posted February 25 I did some scratch building on the blower and tested the engine fit 2
geras24 Posted March 3 Author Posted March 3 Here's a little update on the engine. It is already painted and assembled, but I have a few things left to finish. I need to make the pulleys for the blower and the engine, the belt, and the tensioner.
geras24 Posted March 5 Author Posted March 5 The blower and the engine are finished. I just need to add the fan and check how everything fits in the engine bay, but so far, everything looks good. I wasn't sure if this was a good idea, but I wanted to open the trunk, so I did it. I hope I don't regret this, haha. I also did a paint test. This will be the body color.
