geras24 Posted February 22 Posted February 22 Hi guys, I'm going to build an AMT Fairlane GT/GTA. This is my entry for this year's Cannonball Run. The plan is to make it like the one in Fast X. For the engine, I'm thinking of adding a Weiand blower. 3
MeatMan Posted February 22 Posted February 22 I love it, but the rear wing looks a bit more modern that what was out in 1975 to me. 1 1
geras24 Posted February 22 Author Posted February 22 (edited) Some time ago, I painted the body, but then I left the hobby for a few years. Now with this build, I am going back to the amazing world of modeling. Well, first, I'm focusing on the hood and doing some scrap work while I gather all the stuff I need, like putty, paint, and everything else to build this kit. Removed the FORD letters y the inner line I made the hood scoop with styrene At that point, I was unhappy with the height, so I lowered it a little and did some more sanding. It is not ready yet, but I like how it's going. I removed the side badges from the Fairlane. And made the rear wing Next, I am going to build the engine, add a supercharger, and test how everything fits under the hood. Edited February 22 by geras24 3

I didn't even think about that I'll do some research to find a more period-correct wing for the 1975 vibe. Thanks for pointing that out
Rescued customs Posted February 22 Posted February 22 Imo I dislike the surfboard wing but a nascar inspired duck bill might fit the bill im currently doin a mild pro touring fairlane and also thinking of a wing of some sort … can’t wait to see more 2 1

Can’t wait to see what you come up with for your Fairlane too! 1
slusher Posted February 23 Posted February 23 I built this kit twice and it’s a great kit to build no fit issues,I will be following along! 1
geras24 Posted February 25 Author Posted February 25 I did some scratch building on the blower and tested the engine fit 3
geras24 Posted March 3 Author Posted March 3 Here's a little update on the engine. It is already painted and assembled, but I have a few things left to finish. I need to make the pulleys for the blower and the engine, the belt, and the tensioner. 1
geras24 Posted March 5 Author Posted March 5 The blower and the engine are finished. I just need to add the fan and check how everything fits in the engine bay, but so far, everything looks good. I wasn't sure if this was a good idea, but I wanted to open the trunk, so I did it. I hope I don't regret this, haha. I also did a paint test. This will be the body color. 1
geras24 Posted June 17 Author Posted June 17 (edited) "I've finally made progress on the project: ✓ Painted the body ✓ Created and painted a 3D-printed rear wing in flat black ✓ Assembled several chassis components ✓ Installed the motor Next steps: Working on the interior Adding detail to the body Edited June 17 by geras24 4
SpeedAndViolence Posted June 17 Posted June 17 Looking good so far! Wanting to build a Pro-Touring Fairlane myself soon. 1
geras24 Posted June 19 Author Posted June 19 The interior is now complete! I initially considered flat black but decided to experiment with red tones first. While I'm not completely certain about keeping the red, I'm kinda liking how it turned out. Do you think it's too much red? In other progress, I de-chrome the bumpers and painted them in flat black 3
