The designer would sort of get his wish years later with the introduction of the Cougar wagon in '77 although in a more traditional looking design. Thanks! You are right. I think it was an option package on the Montego wagon, if I remember well! CT
Jay Whittaker Posted March 2 Posted March 2 Awesome rendition of "what could've been"! LOVING the color!

AmericanMuscleFan Posted March 4 Posted March 4 Superb job again Claude! I think I will be tempted or forced to use the word again in the future, near or far because you have the gift of surprising us in a beautiful way each time and I'm sure it's not over! On the other hand, I was wondering if you were starting to calm down, by transplanting elements of the same brand you avoid the risk of rejection, well done Doctor Claude! I don't see the day when a piece of Styrene will be unused in your hobby space my friend, nothing is lost, everything is created under your skillful hands and your bubbling brain! 👍 It's true that there is nothing bad that can happen when the basic ingredients are from the late '60 early '70s. 😉
Dutzie Posted March 4 Posted March 4 Outstanding level of craftsmanship! Great paint and details. Very impressive!

First time I see it on a Cougar and it really fits! Nice interior, too! Well done! Thanks Oliver! I guess I was looking to do something "different"... CT 1

He posited that the crop of pony cars could benefit from station-wagon variants. And the results were very nice. So... Take an AMT 69 Cougar, add the top and hood from a 71 Mustang, and scratchbuilt a lot of body, interior, engine and chassis parts. Tamya's metallic orange and vanilla interior. Hours of fun with styrene! CT Really interesting concept, and love your pristine, super clean fabrication and finishes. Also, the interior detail (door panels and rear quatrer panels, for instance)....lotsa terrific craftsmanship there too. Great job Claude! ..TB

"Shooting brake" pony cars were a thing after Detroit got an eyeful of the Volvo P1800, which is cool in every possible dimension. Designer Robert Cumberford was the pen behind Detroit ad legend Barney Clarke's Mustang shooting brake, built in Italy by Carroziera Touring. It still looks good today. Ford looked hard at it, but reckoning the body shop investment without incremental units to show for it... nada. Bradley may have been privvy to some GM workouts of the F-body that were cooking at GM in the era. Thanks Bob! I suspect he was, but he had such an imagination and talent, he could create all by himself on this theme. CT

STU111 Posted March 10 Posted March 10 This looks excellent. To my eye, l can see elements of sedan delivery. ( or panel vans, as we call them in Australia. ) Very intriguing and beautifully executed. 👍🏻

Come to think of it, the concept of "styrene surgery component rejection", by mashing-up disparate brands never crossed my mind... But who knows? LOL. Seriously, the 63 to 72 era in Detroit was marked by an avalanche of earth-shattering design innovations, rarely seen in such a massive way since. As they say" they don't build them (or more importantly SCULPT them) like that anymore". I'll call you soon regarding the RAM show in april. CT 1
