Is there a source for the Ford V6 as found in 80s Fox body cars? I'm doing my 83 Mercury Marquis Brougham station wagon build andf I need that particular engine. I've only ever seen the V8 or the inline 4 Turbo in Mustang kits.

I believe the soon-to-be released AMT Hell Drivers Mustang II has what you're looking for...

There was a Revell kit of a Mercury Cougar from that era, I can't remember the exact year model. I somehow wound up with a partial of this kit and I used interior parts and suspension on something. I have the engine from that kit. The parts I still have are both engine halves that include a manual gear box, oil pan, the heads and valve covers, the front water pump, two parts representing the drive belts and pullies, and what looks like a small oil cooler. The intake manifold and whatever injection or carb may have been there is gone. This is done in black plastic as the entire kit was in black plastic. Does this sound like what you're looking for?

You've got to be careful with the Revell Cougars. Some came with a V-8 - I think it was the later models (1992 maybe?). Another option is the AMT Ranger/Splash. They had a V-6; I think that was a 3.8L. Maybe the AMT Explorer, too.

What about the MN12 Thunderbird SC coupe kit....... or is that even the same engine? You'd need an intake manifold of some sort......

I will check

I know I have one. I will check it.

I think T.J. has the right answer. The T-Bird has a 3.8L which is a 90 degree bank angle. You will have to fab up an intake system for it and maybe modify the valve covers. You will also have to come up with a transmission.

The Mustang II and Ranger/Explorer used a 60 degree "Cologne" V6 which is completely different.

The '83 Marquis would have had an Essex 3.8L (90 degree) The Essex 3.8L could have been in 1:1 82-97 T-birds/ cougars, 88-95 Taurus, 82-86 and 94-04 Mustangs, and 82-86 Mercury Capris. No guarantees that kits of these subjects have these engines or not. Other vehicles also used these 2 engines, but I don't remember any kits of them. EFI in some form may have appeared as early as 83, but wasn't widely used until roughly 86. And the block architecture was not simply a cut down SBF. The supercharged engine debuted in 89, backed up by either an AOD or Mazda sourced manual trans.

The British  Essex engine was a totally different engine.

the essex v6 is available in 3d print. its an early version out of the british fords such as, capri, cortina and granada. the print version is for upgrading the italeri transit kits so its a single carb and the block and intake are one part.

U.K. and U.S. Essex engines are totally different. The British Essex would be correct for Fords built in Europe. The Canadian built Essex would be correct for U.S. built vehicles.

The Mustang II and Ranger are incorrect. They are 2.8 and 4.0, totally different from the 3.8 in the Mustang.

The Revell 92 Cougar has a 5.0 V8.

Thunderbird Super Coupe would have the correct engine without the supercharger
