2013 Lamborghini Aventador Roadster

Hi!

My last two Lamborghini builds went quite well. So, decided to pick up another one and torture myself a bit with a harder kit. This time, the legendary Aventador Roadster. A really cool looking Lambo. I have some ideas i would like to try, but we'll see. Won't do anything crazy like paint it in pink or neon green. Will stay true to the real ones. Kit itself seems good. My first Aoshima kit. Looks definitely more challenging than the Revell kits - not so sure about my skill level so let's see if i can even finish this one  So I will probably take my time with it and will probably take up some easier Revell kit too.



Theres another monster in my stash still waiting for me to give it a go. Won't touch it yet, but if i'm able to finist both of these - i won't consider myself as a beginner anymore 😎

That Huayra is a wonderful kit. I built it in 2020 at the start of COVID. Hey, I had the time!  When completed, just about every part of the car can be seen. Building it as three subkits, front suspension, interior, rear engine and suspension will yield best results. Body part fit is almost impossible, and after it's together the gaps will be hard to fix. Go slow and get it right and it'll come out okay.

I built the Aoshima kit, it was pretty nice, but the doors did not work as advertised. I wound up gluing them in place.

If you wanna see how to get all the fit issues fixed, plus showing how everything can be fully functional, i have already built this kit successfully. When i saw how many people were discouraged with this kit, i purchased one with the intent of helping out. I have a rather lengthy WIP in this forum.

Haven't really done any work on this kit  What bothers me the most is the doors - just dosen't like the idea of being able to open them. It seems like a novelty idea that creates a whole lot of issues. Usually they are pretty weak, won't sit right and needs a lot of work to build it. So i've decided that i'm going to glue them in place. Ideally before painting the body. This is a sure way to get the panel lines like i would like them to be. I'm not planning to display it with open doors anyway so its not an issue for me. My only consern is that i'm not 100% sure if its possible to put this thing together after painting and glueing everything. 

So i did a lot of testfitting, taping and thinking. I'm pretty sure its doable. So, i'm going to risk it - will glue them on before paint  If anyone has tried this before and knows it won't work (or it will work) then let me know

Yea, the door "operation" on this kit is sketch as best. With it being open-top, having the doors closed will not block any view of the interior. The body will go over the chassis when ready for final assembly, just have to go slow and easy.

before you glue it, check the interior parts can still be fitted. You might find the tub wont go up in the body

So did a bit of thinking.......and measuring........and some glueing 
Got the sideskirts on:


Added some supports for the doors


And finally glued them on 


Then it was time for the interior:

Did some washing:


Then some painting:


And this is how the base came out  Looks pretty awesome.

Started prepping the body for the paint  Glued some final pieces on and worked out a game plan on how to paint this thing. Will do a classic Lamborghini color (won't spoil it yet).   


Also did some work on the engine bay.


Put the engine together. Its really is lacking some details:


So thought i'd improvise a bit. Drilled out some scrap plastic:


And added some coil wires 😁


Should look pretty cool once its in the car


Also did a bit of work on the interior Some tape work:

And some detail work. Did screw up the buttons a bit, but still looks pretty cool 😁

The steering wheel is also done


And interior is pretty much finished 😄

Got the body clear coated  


Then made some progress with the front vents. Had to sand and file quite a lot to get them to fit.

Nice work!  The silver is a great choice for showing off all the sharp angles on this body shape.
